Animation: Quality Control Standards

The Quality Control team has a set of questions they ask when reviewing any deliverable submitted to the platform. Keeping them in mind when producing your deliverable will help avoid revision requests and rejections. 

The revision process breaks down the deliverables by element, ensuring every aspect is reviewed. These are the questions asked for each element:

Project Requirements

• Does the animation match the length required by the client?

• Does the animation match the purpose selected by the client?

• Does the animation follow the instructions provided in the remarks section?

• Does the animation follow the script or technical script provided by the client?

• Is the animation aligned with the reference sample and/or the external material provided by the client?

• Does the animation include the assets provided by the client?

• Does the animation follow the Design language/instructions provided by the client?

• Was the animation done according to the Storyboard guidelines?

Technical Requirements

• Was the animation exported in the format requested by the client?

• Was the animation exported in the aspect ratio requested by the client?

• Was the animation exported in the size requested by the client?

• Was the animation exported in the frame rate requested by the client?

Important: if the client didn’t provide instructions regarding the technical specifications, they should follow the requirements of the platforms they are intended for.

If applicable:

• Does the video have color correction?

• Is the color correction aligned with the mood and tone of the animation?

• Is the color correction consistent throughout the video?

Animation requirements

• Are the transitions consistent with the timing?

• Are the transitions coherent with each act?

• Do the transitions allow the narration to flow?

• Are characters correctly rigged?

• Are there any secondary actions that highlight primary elements?

• Were squash and stretch correctly applied to actions and elements?

• Do actions and elements have movement anticipation?

• Are the positions of characters and elements coherent?

• Do movements and actions follow the overlapping concept?

• Do elements follow arc movement?

• Is the animation exaggerated as to allow actions and movements to be clearly visible?

Other requirements

• Does the animation convey a complete idea?

• Is the animation well-labeled with regards to its purpose?

Timing/Pacing

• Is the pace of the animation accurate?

• Do the scenes have enough screen time to be clearly understood?

• Do the actions have enough screen time to be clearly understood?

• Are the actions synced accordingly?

• Is the voice-over synced accordingly?

Graphics

• Are the graphics aligned with the branding guidelines?

• Are the logos aligned with the branding guidelines?

• Are the icons aligned with the branding guidelines?

Typography

• Is the font style aligned with the branding guidelines?

• Is the font color aligned with the branding guidelines?

• Is the font size aligned with the client’s requirements?

Text

• Does the text in the animation match the script perfectly?

• Is the text clearly readable?

• Are there any misspellings?

• Are there any grammar issues?

Errors

• Are there any misplaced frames?

• Are there any black frames?

• Are there any glitches?

• Are there any distortions?

• Are there any editing issues?
