At Bunny Studio, we understand that voice-over work is all about vocal quality, tone, and believability.
When we refer to voice ages like "Child", “Teen,” “Young Adult,” “Middle Age,” or “Senior,” we’re not referring to your actual age, but to the maturity and characteristics of your voice.
This distinction is key in making sure that clients find exactly what they’re looking for, and that you’re matched with the right kinds of projects.
Remember: if you find any issues in a project, you can Request Help to our team!

🚸 Can you offer Child voices?

Now, let's break it all down to undestand how we evaluate a natural performance of each age!
🧠 What Do We Mean by "Voice Age"?
Each age category reflects a specific set of vocal traits, including:
- Tone and depth
- Energy and rhythm
- Clarity and confidence
- Emotional nuance
Clients listening to Samples in each category expect a voice that sounds authentic for that age group—not an exaggerated version or caricature, but a natural, convincing performance.
For example:
- A Middle Age voice might sound experienced and grounded, but not quite as deep or slow-paced as a Senior voice.
- A Teen voice typically carries more bounce, higher pitch, and unpolished energy compared to the smoother tone of a Young Adult.
-
Child voices are not just about sounding high-pitched and energetic - children also have lower registers and frequencies to their voices, which is very hard for adults to mimic.
Except for Child and Senior, the other voices ages subjective regarding intonation. This is much more susceptible regarding Client preferences! The majority of Client rejections when it comes to age performances are for this reason.
So don't worry - even if a Client doesn't like your performance as Teen, Young Adult or Middle Age, our team will assess if there are more noticeable or an extreme deviation in your intonation first.
If your voice falls within this subjective threshold, and it still conveys that age skill, then we consider this a Client Preference rejection, and thus, you will not be penalized.
✅ How Do We Evaluate Voice Ages?
When you submit Samples for different voice ages, our QC team assesses whether your delivery:
- Sounds believable and natural for the selected age
- Aligns with what clients are typically looking for in tone, energy, and character
- Is technically consistent, without relying on extreme pitch-shifting, voice effects, or impersonation techniques
🔊 Examples of Natural Voice Age Samples
To help you get a better sense of what we’re looking for, here's a curated list of Sample recordings that represent each voice age category.
When clients request a specific voice age, they expect it to sound natural and true to the voice age they've selected, not just a "good enough" impression. While many Pros can do very accurate voice age impressions. In some cases, those impressions don't sound very accurate. That is why we recommend keeping only the voice ages that naturally live in your voice.
While different languages do have some differences in intonation and ranges, here are some voice over samples to exemplify expected tones for each age group.

🎭 How can I showcase my impersonation?
Clients may be looking for impersonations, even if cartoonish - and you're most welcome to upload Samples of impersonations you can make!
Unless your voice sounds extremely natural for an entire different age than your own, you'll have to upload this Sample by selecting your own age. During this process, you'll be able to tag your sample with some options that will make it clear it's an impersonation of another Age.
You can check how to do this here: How can I upload Samples?
🚫 Why We Don’t Approve Impersonations as a Skill
While character voices and impersonations can be fun and creatively impressive, they’re not a reliable fit for most commercial, corporate, or narrative projects - where authenticity and consistency are essential.
That’s why we generally do not allow "Impersonations" as an approved skill on the platform.
However, if you're capable of performing natural-sounding voices in different age ranges, our Quality Control team may approve you for that additional age group. The key here is that your performance must feel genuine, not exaggerated or artificially altered.
🎯 Final Tip
If you’re exploring different voice age categories, we recommend:
- Practicing within your natural vocal range first
- Listening to real-life references (e.g., commercials, podcasts, audiobooks)
- Submitting high-quality, clearly tagged Samples that reflect your most authentic voice
Our team is here to help you grow and succeed - and assigning you the right age-based Skills is a key part of that journey.
