To join our community of Pros, your application samples must demonstrate professional-grade recording and delivery.
Our Quality Control (QC) team looks for a "radio-ready" sound that requires no additional cleaning or editing from the client.
To help you succeed, here are some important considerations:
1. Utilize Our Scripts
For a valid application, at least one of the samples submitted must be recorded with the script provided during the application process for the specific language you applied for!
This requirement is essential because it allows our Quality Control team to evaluate your most recent and "ready-to-go" recording quality against a standardized baseline, ensuring that your current setup and performance meet our professional expectations.
2. Audio Format
In our platform, when uploading a Deliverable for a project, or a Sample for your account, the mandatory file format is .wav.
However, our Pro Application accepts all audio formats.
⚠️ Please keep in mind that uploading in other formats than .wav might cause the audio file to not reflect the best or more accurate quality, and it may cause your application to not be accepted for quality reasons.
The preferred format for your Application Samples is the same as we utilized in the platform:
- .wav
- Mono
- 44.1 kHz sample frequency
- 16-bit depth
- Normalized to -3dB peak
Following these specifications and avoiding the issues below will give you the best chances of being approved as a Pro!
3. Technical Quality Issues
Your application will be rejected if any of the following issues are identified in the submitted samples:
Environmental Noise: Background noises (cars, mouse clicks, fans, pages turning, other people), hiss/white noise, and electrical noise or hum.
Room Acoustics: Room echo (reverb) and "boxiness" (recording in an untreated or small, tight space).
Technical Faults: Distortion or clipping, and volume that is not normalized around -3dB Peak.
Microphone Technique: Plosives (popping sounds), sibilance issues (harsh "s" sounds), and improper distance from the microphone.
Inappropriate Audio: Samples featuring multiple voices (we only work with individual freelancers) or background music that is too loud to ascertain recording quality.
4. Performance & Editing Issues
Even with a perfect microphone, the delivery and "polish" of the file must be professional.
Over-processing: Audio that sounds heavily processed (excessive noise reduction or EQ), or heavy compression and/or limiting.
Editing Errors: Audible cuts, clicks, pops, or poorly timed edits.
Unnatural Sound: Voices that sound robotic, computer-generated, or as if they were not recorded with professional equipment.
Clarity & Fluency: Pronunciation issues, mumbled or unclear words, and voices that are simply hard to understand.
Human Element: Excessive or distracting breath noises and mouth clicks/noises.
Artistic Delivery: Voices that sound monotone, flat, nasal, or raspy.
Accuracy: Samples that do not accurately display the age, gender, language, or accent the talent is applying for.
The "Dry" Standard
Important: All application samples must be submitted as dry tracks.
This means no background music, no sound effects, and no artificial reverb. We need to hear the raw quality of your voice and your recording environment.
If your sample contains any of these issues, your application will likely be rejected.
We recommend listening to your audio with high-quality headphones before submitting to catch any subtle noises!
