2 Questions re: Contest Audition Rejection

    Hello Mark!

    Thanks for sharing your audio.

Unfortunately, the quality of your recording is not up to our standards. It seems you are using unprofessional equipment. The recording has way too much noise; your voice sounds thin and filtered; there's distortion.

We'll have to put your account on hold until you are able to achieve the consistent level of quality we require.

I listened to your application project and the quality differs vastly. Did you change of set-up? It sounds completely different.

    Looking forward to your reply,

    Juan.

    Juan,

Thanks for taking the time to listen and reply. No change in set up or equipment between my application project and this contest (which I can go over with you in detail via e-mail). None.

I'd obviously like to address your concerns and and "unfreeze" my account by sending you additional raw samples for approval. How do I make that happen? Can you send me an e-mail with instructions on how to proceed?

    Thanks.

    Mark

    Hi Mark

I have to agree with Juan Santiago. Especially the noise sounds very different from your application. Maybe something happened with your gear and something could've gotten damaged? I would suggest you give an exhaustive review to your gear. I'm sorry for this inconvenience!

This is the space where you can share all your recordings and we can engage in conversation on that matter. Both Juan Santiago, myself and other members of our Community will be able to give you meaningful insights as to what could be happening here.

Also, to address your questions one by one.

    1. If the file is rejected right off the bat, yes, you won't be able to submit again. However, when our team requests a revision, you'll have 25 minutes (in the case of contest auditions) to deliver a new file. More likely in this case it took you a bit longer to review the revision and it expired before you submitted. This changes the status of the submission to rejected right away.

    2. We do prefer clean and unprocessed audio files. We do this because processing can really mess up a recording when not done correctly. Also it's always much better to achieve the best quality possible without the use of post processing. This will give the client more headroom to work with and will give them more space to process or treat the take as they need.

    Hope this explained it!

    Angela,

Thanks so much. I appreciate your time to review this (as did Juan) and provide me such detailed feedback.

No inconvenience! I need to get this fixed for you guys. I haven't heard this feedback from any of my other clients (including major audiobook publishers), so perhaps something did go whacky recently.

As you can see from my vacation setting, I'm away from my studio until Friday, but will work to review my sound chain when I return and will post a few new audition samples (varying types and performance volumes) for your team's review.

I'm confident I can be an asset to you and your clients. Let me get this audio quality issue ironed out and I'll contact you again in this forum.

Thanks again to both of you for your time, patience and support.

    ~ Mark
