Rejected Contest
Hi there, I recently had 2 contests rejected because of noise back ground hiss. I had an issue with my headphones so I was with out them for a few days, unfortunately this was when I needed to record and edit.
On listening back, there was absolutely background noise and hiss and I cant believe I didn't pick up on it even without head phones.
This has made me very anxious about my audio quality now and I would like some feed back if possible.
Here is something I recorded and edited very quickly just now. the performance isn't what I was going for I'm asking about the background noise, although I think I was a little too close to the mic.
I'd really appreciate any help or info I can get.
I'm recording with a CADe100s mic and I'm using a zoom H5 as my pre amp. I edit on Adobe audition but I only every just clean up the mistakes and normalize. I record in a 7x4x4 fully insulated vocal booth with 4 inch insulation all around. I know this particular mic is known for being a tiny bit noisy, but If its at the extreme end where I'm going to find it hard to get jobs then I will send it back to the manufacturer for repair.
Until now I haven't had an issue with the audio quality and I have only been doing voiceover for 6 months so all equipment is under 6 months old.
Thank you guys! I appreciate you all looking into this!
Have a great day!!!
Lori

Interestingly I just listened to the file I left on Soundcloud and there’s still hissing. But then I listened to some other things on SoundCloud and every piece of audio does have hissing on there. So is there anywhere I could send the actual file to on so Bunny helpers can check it out?
Hi Lori!
Thank you for sharing! I was listening to the file but I'd also like to compare it with the ones you go rejected. Can you please share the project links that you got the rejections from?
Thanks!
You can also share the recording here via a Google Drive or Dropbox link. This way, you can be sure that the file won't be formatted into an .mp3 and downgrade the quality in any way.
Thanks!
Hi Angela!
Well that was my intention but for some silly reason I didn’t keep it!!! I usually have every thing I’ve ever recorded lol but in this instant I’m afraid I don’t have it :(
Like I said in the original post, this was a very quick read, it was nothing but a test for my equipment, so I’m sorry if it sounds rushed.
Thanks for looking at it though!
Lori
Hi Angela, I found one of the files that was rejected!
The first (Spotify) is the one that I edited with headphones that I'm hoping is better. Ive been looking into this all morning and I think I'm going to send the mic to the manufacturer about the hiss.

This one is the one that was rejected with excessive hiss, do you hear a difference in audio?
Thank you for your time!

so I see that google drive link didn't work. I'm trying to figure this out.
Hi Lori!
The files are in the folder, but you have to give us access. You can do that by going to Share and choosing 'Anyone with this link can edit.' That way, everyone will be able to have access to the file without having to request permission to view it.
Hope this helps!
