Feedback requested for rejected audition
Hello,
I was hoping someone could take a listen to a rejected audition of mine for "enunciation issue in personalizing." I know I have kind of a wierd voice, not typical of voice over artists.
Also, do you notice anything in sound quality? I am using Logic software with a Rhode NT-1 mic. I don't seem to ever get the sound I want though, but maybe that is just because I am not used to hearing my own voice.

Hey Doug!
There are some quality issues in your recording.
- There is room echo that affects the clarity of your voice.
- This audio sounds very nasal. You may want to try repositioning your mic.
- Use a pop filter to get rid of plosives.
Best,
Juan.
Hi Doug!
Thanks for sharing!
I agree with Juan Santiago in regards to the Room Echo and the nasal sound of your voice. I also think you may be recording a bit too near to the mic. The pop filter can help you control the pops and also get away a bit more from the capsule.
A tip that helps me a lot is to position the microphone right in front of mouth with my nose being just a bit on the top of the capsule but not in the middle. It helps me a lot!
Also, I notice that your performance is a bit stiff, as if you weren't comfortable with the script or you were reading it for the first time. The dynamism is there, but I feel it's not very natural or conversational. You may want to read the script 2 or 3 times before starting to record to get familiar with the flow of the recording.
We hosted a webinar with Tommy Griffiths, one of our best Pros, and he gave a very thorough explanation on how he approaches his recordings. It's super educational! you can check it here: https://goo.gl/gSVTdD
Hope this helps :)
