What about an "I'm available" feature?

Perhaps this idea, in combination with the ability to mark ourselves 'out' or 'unavailable' in increments of time rather than an entire day.  I have several clients who book me on particular days and times and it would be great to be able to plug those days/times into VB to show I'm available part of the day, but not all. Of course, this also may require that once a VB file is submitted, the review is done in a timely fashion (less that four hours). It's frustrating to put up a contest or speedy at 7 p.m. and then hear back, after I"ve gone to bed, that a revision is requested. Because of this, I've just stopped accepting work at certain times, knowing I may not hear back in enough time, just in case. Thanks for proposing this Josh.

    Hi Josh and Dawn!

This is a great idea and we've been thinking about on a way to implement a solution for this. I'll definitely bring your idea on how we can execute this to our team! Would you say we should add a button, or how do you think would be the best way for this to happen?

All ideas are welcome :) We love brainstorming with you!

Angela, Fiverr's feature is actually pretty helpful and could be built upon. It's a button and you set a time duration. For example, if I know I have to pick the kids up, I can set myself available until 3:15pm. It would actually be a brilliant addition. Unfortunately, for me, I'm not able to focus as much on VB because the offers don't usually come when I'm available. This could be revolutionary.

I love this idea! It would be fantastic and save a lot of Grrr moments when I'm just getting into the car, or at my day job, and see a contest with a juicy script pop up in my email.

Initially, I didn't see the appeal here. And I'm still not sure that it would be used responsibly by many, because people are desperate to work and are likely to cut every corner to give themselves a leg up.

On the other hand, if there were a stick attached to the carrot...it might be refined over time to be very effective. It could be opened to all initially...but there should probably be some sort of three-strikes policy...so that, if people are just leaving it on, but they have work come in and don't respond within some set period of time (at least to accept the job)...maybe a couple hours...if this happens 3 times (or maybe as many as 5...), I'd say maybe they get frozen out of future use of it, because they abused the system and made it pointless.

    Just something to think about.

Great point, Chuck.  The feature on Fiverr actually kicks you out of the "I'm Available" feature if you fail to respond.  I think they freeze you out for a month or something like that.  I'm not sure how the parameters work.  I'm not sure if it is once or a set number of times.  But that IS a great idea to add that feature.  Brilliant input, Chuck!
