    Hi Jennifer!

A couple of notes on your audio.

There's loud hiss throughout the recording. It's over the voice and it's affecting the quality and intelligibility. There's also a sibilance problem, you can hear how the s's stand out and it's really harsh for the listener.

Let's try to solve those two issues. What equipment are you using? This can help us understand where the noise is coming from.

    Best,

    Juan

    Juan

I'm not sure where the hiss came from, I can't hear it on my end on original recording. Please listen to this one :

It's actually on a rode condenser mic!

    Thank you

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer

I listened to this last recording and the problems are still very there. Is this microphone you're using a USB mic? The hiss could be coming from there.

Also, the voice sounds quite metallic and thin which is boosting the sibilance. I can also sense some room echo that is impacting the sound. Maybe the mic you're using is not the best for your type of voice. This is quite common for bright voices like yours or mine. Have you considered trying another one?

    Hello!

I would like to begin working with Voice Bunny once again and am providing a quality check sample in the link below. I have, and am currently, taking voice-over classes. I am requesting that my account be re-instated for # ldmgbqc. Feedback is most welcome and, should you request new samples, I will gladly upload more.

    Hi Frank

Would you please share with us how you're recording? It's quite complex for me to give you guidance on how to improve without this information.

Unfortunately, this recording sounds quite mumbled and the low and mid frequencies are boosted. Also, the overall sound is quite unprofessional as if the capsule of your microphone was either broken or not built for professional voice over applications. There are also some reflections in the background that give your voice quite of a boomy and boxy sound.

Please share with us how you're recording in terms both of equipment and space.

    Hi Angela,

Thanks for your feedback. I’m recording on a Rode NT1-A with a pop filter through a dbx 286s and the interface to connect to my computer is the Focusrite Scarlett. There was no enhancer, nor compression in the recording and I’m using Audition to clean clicks and pops in quiet parts of the recording. The room is a small 5’ width x5’ length by 6 1/2’ high enclosed space with carpet on 2 walls, foam on the back wall and a curtain drawn on another wall, floor to ceiling. The ceiling is a blanketed. The room is very deadened, and no fans nor noise is coming into the space. The recording has around 1 dB correction to ensure the peaks were not exceeding 3 dB. Distance to mic was around 6 inches. I was using quality over the ear Monster Elements headphones to monitor and edit the sample. I’ve used this same setup in the past for Voice Bunny jobs that had passed QC and had been accepted by clients.

Let me know if you’d like me to try again something new or different.

    Thank you,
    Frank

    Hi Angela!

I just uploaded a new sample that I recorded with the setup I described in the previous post. Please feel free to let me know if you hear the same quality issues. I'm doing character voices at the moment so this isn't my normal voice, but it can give you an idea of what it sounds like with a more excited performance.

    Hi Angela,

My account was initially locked because my stats for contests were low. I was entering into voice contests requesting male senior entries, which I was not winning, and was told that I have a middle age to young adult voice. I would like to work with Voice Bunny again but am awaiting feedback to be reinstated. What can I do next?

    Thanks,

    Frank
