    Hi Laurie!

I think I already replied you in another post, but here are other comments :)

Listening to the audio I can hear a constant hiss in the background. Try lowering the gain of your preamp and then raising the volume in the DAW through GAIN or automation. That can help us keep the noise floor lower so it doesn't mask your voice.

The audio is a bit bright and those frequencies can be unpleasant to the ear. You can try decreasing this frequencies with a pop filter, or changing your positioning towards the mic so that you are slightly on angle. That way the air will hit the mic's capsule with less energy, and you may achieve a more balanced frequency response. For the last "pss" you may want to get a bit farther from the mic, or lowering the volume in the mix.

    I hope this helps!

    Best,

    Juan.

    Hi Laurie!

I agree with Juan Santiago's comments.

I'd like to add this super useful pic we found on how to reduce the sibilance or high frequencies of your recording. You don't have to be that off axis of the capsule of the mic, but it illustrates the idea of how it could look when you record. You can move yourself a bit to the sides until you feel the high frequencies are at a healthy level.

    Hope it helps!
