    Hi Rae!

We'd be happy to check the file. Can you share a link from Soundcloud, Google Drive or Dropbox with us so we can listen to the file? Here we don't have access to your previous projects or submissions.

    Thanks!

    Angela,

    Thanks!

I put the file on dropbox (here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dxx4wpuedtavmp1/Belmont.wav?dl=0)

I don't have access to relay the feedback verbatim, but I was told there was an audio distortion at :05. I listened to the audio at the 5 second mark and looked at the visual representation in my audio editing program and couldn't find anything out of place.

Listening to it again later, there is a "sh" that could be reduced, but it's a little bit later in the file, so I'm going under the assumption that wasn't what was being referred to in the feedback.

    Hi Rae

    Thanks for sharing.

So the issues I find are the following:

    - Excessive gain and/or compression. This makes the voice sound louder and even have a bit of a distorted sound at some areas of the file. For example, the word 'besides' sounds very compressed. If you're using a compressor, you could try lowering the gain of your preamp and keep it on healthy levels.

    - Mouth noises and plosives.

    - Editing errors. At the 5 second mark you can listen to the abrupt editing that cuts the ending of the word and makes it sound very unnatural.

    - Hiss noise. It's very present at the back of your voice when you're talking. When you cut to the digital silence and listen to the start of the next edit, you can clearly pick up the different in noise in the back.

Thanks for the feedback! When you've listened to the same file so many times, it can get hard to pick up on stuff.

I have since lowered the gain on my pre-amp (it had gotten turned up for something else, and I forgot to readjust it), so that solves that problem.

The dryness that comes with crazy cold temperatures has been wreaking havoc on my voice, I'm working on that. I didn't think I'd edited anything at the 5-second-mark, but I must have.

The hiss noise is a new one, though. I'll have to look into that.

    Hi Rae!

Tell me about it! When you've done this for so much time, you get just way too used to your equipment. Ears can be super sneaky and get used to everything super fast! That's why you can be at a party with super duper high levels and you don't feel any discomfort after a while.

About the cold temperatures, please take care! We have an article recommending remedies you can try to nurture your vocal chords during these days. My favorite is the chamomile tea! I often add a teaspoon of honey and the juice of half a lemon and it tastes fantastic. You can read the article here: https://help.bunnyinc.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000019810-Tip-8-5-simple-remedies-to-keep-your-voice-in-shape-

Please feel free to share a recording with us with the adjusted settings so we can help!
