Audio quality assessment requested
This file was rejected. Can someone tell me why? No name slate, under 30 seconds. It peaks at -6.15 dB. It has 0.5 seconds of silence at the beginning. It's a 44100 Hz, mono, 16 bit WAV file. There is no compression, noise reduction, or other kinds of post-production effects applied. The noise floor in my studio is under -60 dB. Please help! Thanks!

This one got rejected too. I don't get it.

Hello Jeff,
Thank you so much for reaching out!
I wanted to check your file but the link seems to be private, could you make sure that it is a public link?
Kind regards,
Daniel
Sorry about that, hopefully I've fixed the issue for both links. Thanks for taking a look, Daniel!
Thanks for that fix, Jeff!
Just as a curiosity, was this file rejected as a sample?
If that was the case, it is because we try to not have samples with multiple voices, since this can (and has) created confusions with clients. Our best advice is to create samples longer than 5 seconds for each character or voice and upload them separately, so if any of them are selected for a booking, it is 100% clear which style the client wants :)
(Congrats on all those awesome performances by the way!)
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you today!
Kind regards,
Daniel
Daniel, yes the character voice demo was rejected as a sample. Thank you for the clarification, I will work on creating separate sample files for each voice.
This one was also rejected as a sample: https://tinyurl.com/w85tmubk, and I'm not sure why either. It's just a single commercial read. If you could weigh in on that one too, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Best,
Jeff
Hello Jeff!
That is quite strange, rejected samples should always create automatic emails with the rejection reasons, I will check with the team to see if there might be any kind of issue there.
On the other hand, I just checked this last one and the only issue I hear is some breathing noises that we always ask our Pros to edit out, it should be something fairly simple to do, feel free to edit those out and upload it again, I believe it should be accepted after that :)
Kind regards,
Daniel
Daniel,
Yeah, I was becoming concerned when I never received any of the promised emails explaining the reason for the rejections. Let me know if you find anything out there. I will edit out my breaths and try again. Thanks for all your input!
Jeff
You are welcome, Jeff!
I'll let you know if I have any extra info.
I hope that you have a wonderful day!
Kind regards,
Daniel
Daniel,
I removed the breaths and my sample was still rejected, again with no follow-up email explaining why. Can you offer any insight into this one? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1shtsKXkp_xEBD8KGDKAK0bFbD9D-Qs5D/view?usp=sharing
Thanks again,
Jeff
Anyone? Anyone?
Hi Jeff,
Sorry I took a bit to answer, I was looking into your case a bit deeper since that behavior you describe was unusual, and I think I found out what happened.
Your account had more than 50% samples rejected, and this causes any future samples to be rejected immediately until the rejected samples are removed from the profile. The reason the system does not delete the samples automatically is because a Pro might want to ask for a reconsideration or, if the Pro finds the feedback from QC valuable, to check the audio and have a reference point for a newer sample.
At the moment, my advice is that you go into your samples page, click the filter at the left for "Rejected" samples, delete all those and then you can upload new ones. This should allow you to upload them without having them automatically rejected.
Let me know if this helps and how it goes after you delete the rejected samples!
Kind regards,
Daniel
Daniel, thanks for taking a deeper look into my issues. However, when I clicked on the "Rejected" filter, it only displayed 1 sample (which was the one I had just uploaded last week and couldn't figure out why it was rejected). I deleted that file, and now only see 5 "approved" samples. No sign of any other rejected clips, let alone a set of more than 50% rejected clips. I've attached a screenshot that shows no rejected clips on my profile. Am I missing something? Thanks.
Hello Jeff,
Thanks for the info, that is not expected behavior from the platform's side, could you give it another go, and if it happens again, could you maybe get a screenshot of the rejection? I changed manually your profile status, so I would like to see if it changes something or if it is necessary to report this case to engineering so they can look further into it.
Kind regards,
Daniel
Daniel,
Thank you for all of your help! It appears that whatever you did to manually change my profile status worked. My clip was approved. It would still be helpful in future if the functionality to send an email with reasons for rejection could be restored, however.
Best,
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I'm glad it worked! I will certainly forward that feedback to our team since those emails should be sent every and each time.
I hope that you have a great day!
Kind regards,
Daniel
