Read Rejected - Soundproof Studio
Hello,
I have had two reads rejected recently because the reviewer says that it doesn't sound like I'm using professional equipment.
I'm very confused because I work in a soundproof studio with a noise floor of over-70dB (which is VERY quiet), and use a high quality mic. I record professionally and am represented as a voiceover artist. I have NEVER had complaints about quality before.
It's very frustrating, because I feel like it's a genuine crapshoot as to whether or not my audio will be accepted, even though I follow the same process every time.

Thanks. To me, the audio sounds "thin" as if recorded on a USB mic or perhaps your EQ settings aren't picking up the lower frequencies (like a telephone for example). Listen to your audio sample you uploaded and compare it to this one, for example (I just pulled one from our search n book page): http://voicebunny.com/samples/49223
Can you hear the difference? His recording equipment is picking up the full range of his voice. Ensure you are listening in studio quality professional headphones (I like the Sony MDR-7510 headphones personally).
I am also never given specific feedback on WHAT exactly the "quality" issue is. When I am told that I'm not recording in a professional studio, but I AM recording in a professional studio, how am I supposed to take that?
Could you post a link to your audio here? I can possibly offer some insight. Thanks!
Here's a link to the sample I submitted tonight.

It wouldn't let me access your sample. I believe it's marked private. Also, what mic and sound interface are you using? That could have something to do with it.
Try again-- I think I unlocked it.
It seems to be a lottery as I have been recording under the same conditions every time (I have torn my apartment asunder to create a top notch recording space and spent a lot of cash) and some reads are accepted and some are rejected even though the conditions are identical?
