Quality requirement - normalized to -3db? -10?
In Tara's recent webinar, she suggested many reads are too "hot" when normalized to -3db, and that we should submit at -10db instead. My question is this: If VB still has an official requirement of -3db, then any read should be automatically rejected without question for being so much quieter. Before I'm willing to risk my stats by courting rejection, I need to see VB change the official requirement. How about the rest of you? -- Cat

Hey Cat,
Thanks for bringing this up! I have requested that we change the requirements on those pages as too often, normalization raises the volume of the noise floor too and makes the audio sound noisy or staticy. You should see revised requirements on the submit page soon.
I've seen quite a few reads lately that are way under the -3db threshhold. Looking at the display of the track, some look like they might be peaking at -10 or -12 and being accepted. Not sure what is going on. They sound OKish, just low. Just hoping the client is receiving audio they can use.
