    Howdy John!

I asked one of our Quality Control Agents from Japan (he lives in and is from Osaka) to listen and provide his feedback. He also owns a production studio and is a voice actor himself. Here's what he said:

"VoiceBunny promises "native speakers" to all of our clients.
If you were born and raised in Japan, you know the presentation standard required/expected in this market.

Let me dig into this particular recording further.

    "Landesk と、そのシステム管理ソリューションが"
I took this mispronunciation of the corporate name very seriously, especially it emerged at the very beginning.

    "サービスに対する、ユーザーの全体的な満足度を高めるのです"
Now this was one of many "red flags" that I spotted. "〜に対する" must be articulated properly. "〜を高めるのです" sounds as if you're about to bite your tongue.

    "〜が、"... throughout:
Students and candidates spend weeks trying to get this correct, and that's why we never hear the way you pronounce 〜が over radio and TV (because that's considered a no-no in the industry).

There are a few more as well.

We do not want to ever sell a less than perfect product to our clients. I sincerely hope you understand."

We did not have a native Japanese person on the team until recently, so we did not catch these issues before. Again, I hope you understand and thank you.

    Hi Tara,

Thank you for getting back to me with this valuable feedback. I just wanted to clarify regarding one thing which I believe a native Japanese reviewer should be aware of.

The mispronunciation of Landesk the reviewer mentions is not a mispronunciation but rather an English pronunciation rather than a Katakana pronunciation of an English word. In a previous work I had done for Landesk, I specifically asked for clarification on the client's preference regarding this point.

I do know that my enunciation is a work in progress so if it was rejected for those reasons, I am perfectly okay with it. Would it be possible to ask you to forward my contact information to te reviewer? I am interested in asking him/her about some coaching sessions. If not, that's okay too

    Thanks again,
    John
