    Hey Heidi!

Yes, there are things we can do to improve the quality of your recordings. There is room echo in your recording. This causes the voice to sound a bit distant and influenced by the reflections of the room. You’ll find tips on acoustic treatment on our Community page: https://goo.gl/vGqUIW .

There are mouth clicks throughout, so you may want to re position the mic to capture less noise.

    Best,

    Juan

    Juan,

I updated my equipment. I have a Sennheiser Microphone, use wavepad to edit, added more soundproof material to my studio and am now using different headsets. You can hear the results

    Hi Heidi

Your recording has some hiss noise. Can you let me know which interface you're using?

I also pick up several plosives in your recording which hints to me that you may be recording too near to the microphone. I suggest you step back a bit from it to reduce the impact!

    Hello Angela,

Sure I can step back from the microphone a bit. I am using Focusrite Scarlett 212. Is there anything else I would need to do to have my account reactivated?

    Hi Heidi

First we would need to review the recording to ensure the quality is approvable. Maybe you're using too much gain. Can you recording farther away and also reduce the gain? You can then normalize the recording in your DAW of preference.

Share with us a new recording so we can assess the quality!

    Hello again Angela,

I reduced the gain a bit:

if I normalize it to - 6db it sounds like this:

    Hi Heidi

The recordings sound quite filtered. Did you add any processing by any chance? Besides the normalization that is!

    Hi Angela,

No, I did not add any processing in the first recording I did however edit out the breaths. The second recording is normalized.

    Hi Heidi,

I agree with Angela, the high frequencies don't sound as clear. Please share with us your recording settings, maybe there's something that's not setup properly in Wavepad. It should be recording at least in 44100 sample rate.

Thank you Seb I did record with 44100  soon.sample rate. I reduced the gain a bit, didn't edit any breaths this time just raw recording. What do you think? https://www.dropbox.com/s/troedf11s9rg2l1/Heidi_demo5.wav?dl=0

I'm determined to get this right :) I'm also upgrading to Pro Tools!

Hey Heidi, in terms of high frequencies this new sample sounds much better. There are still some minor issues that could be improved like mouth clicks and breaths in between words. Those could be edited out (replaced by room tone, not silence) or lowered in volume.

Pro Tools is definitely an upgrade in terms of editing capabilities!
