    Hi Nick!

I think you have a terrific voice!

A couple of thoughts. In general the audio sounds well. There's some heavy compressing which is squeezing out all the dynamics. We ask the files to be unprocessed in case the client wants to do some post processing later on.

About the performance, I feel it sounds a bit flat and monotone. That's one of the main reasons why our clients reject the work. You may want to try a more natural and conversational tone. Try changing rhythm, intonation, accents to give it more life.

There are a few noises here and there, like at 0:01 (behind your voice, sounds like a vibration), 0:08 mouth click. You may want to edit them out to provide a perfect take :)

Let me know what you think.

    Best,

    Juan.

Thank you for the feedback. What is strange is that no compression noise reduction or post processing was done. That was recorded using a sennheiser mkh 416 which I a great industry standard mic. The recorder was the zoom f8 which has very silent mic pres. I have double checked all of my settings see no compression being added anywhere. I did just hear the buzz and mouth click but that was not why it was denied. It was denied from the compression. I have a degree in recording engineering and fully understand the process but can't figure out why it sounds compressed.

    Hi Nick!

Thank you for sharing the recording. I'd have to agree with Juan Santiago in which it sounds compressed. However, as you didn't apply any post-processing compressor, I believe this is coming from the proximity + gain being added on the preamp. I suggest you stand a bit farther from the mic and tone down the gain a bit.

Sometimes, high-end mics react this way to avoid distortion. I suggest you try that and share a recording with us here! I'd also try to record a bit off-axis just to make sure the impact of your voice is not making the capsule react in a strange way :) Hope this helps!
