Feedback on VO Samples

    Hi Glenn!

I think you have built a good sample portfolio. I was able to feel the different emotions from purpose to purpose.

A couple of thoughts in regards to quality. I found your samples to sound a bit opaque. Are you filtering the high frequencies? Also, loud and distracting mouth clicks were frequent in your samples. Perhaps you are recording too close to the mic?

I felt you were rushing through the script in some samples. I know sometimes we need to rush to squeeze long scripts in 30 secs, but there are other tools we can use to achieve that goal. It's important to have a sense of rhythm, and then through editing you can reduce the space between words to make it fit, not to make it sound faster. That way, the performance is not affected.

    I hope this helps!

    Best,

    Juan

Thank you very much, Juan ! I need input like this. Excellent constructive criticism ! I really appreciate it.  ;-)

These samples I did create quite close to the mic. I will definitely maintain some distance from now on.  I didn't use any outboard gear or additional processing\EQ at all. My soundbooth is pretty dead, but I have adjustments on my AKG414 I can make to dial in the frequency response.

I hope I will receive other input as useful as yours.

    Sincerely,

    GDR

    Hi Glenn!

Would you mind sharing the files in a Google Drive or Soundcloud link so we can listen to them here? It would give us a better way to help!
