Thanks for sharing! Are you using the same setup for all of the files? I can feel some of them (like the LousAndClark file) has some hiss noise, that is not present in the others. Also, did you add any processing?
No processing at all. Just normalized to -3db. I don’t understand the hiss you are hearing. I’m using focusrite 2i2 and my cans are Beyer Dynamic DT770 M . I hear no his at normal gain. I crank my headphones up to 75 percent above and I hear no hiss. I put it on my studio monitor and crank it up and I don’t hear a hiss or any noise. I look at the wave form in adobe audition and I see no noise or anything that could be a hiss. I don’t understand. Please help me? I just listened to it in DropBox and downloaded it to and played in both headphones and studio monitors. I hear no hiss anywhere.
Yes same settings for all files. Same gain on my preamp, no processing no compression, no de-esser, no EQ, no enhancer.
Can you tell me what I need to do to get my account on-line and working. Do you make that decision, am I in the right place and how many good samples do you need? I have been going round and round on this for a bit and I don't understand the issue and the steps to resolution.
I replied to your email at Help at Bunny Inc, but you asked that I keep things centralized on a thread here so here is a copy of my email to you:
Hi Angela,
Sorry for the long email here - but looking at the community space (If I’m in the right place) I’m not seeing answers from you to my follow-up posts and answers to you. Please tell me which thread you want me to post follow-up on and please tell me how and when I can expect to receive follow-up from you when I answer your questions, because I seem to be very confused.
By Community space I assume you mean https://goo.gl/klKlhi and then click on “Get Feedback” ? I’m not seeing answers there to the questions I am asking you. I know this is long but here is the history of my attempts to resolve issues as reported by you:
I’m sorry I’m trying to do things right – but seem to be either mis-understanding or having difficulty with how your platform works. I’m not complaining in any way just trying to understand your feedback to me and it is confusing for me. Please bear with me a minute and give me instructions on what to do. Here is where I am:
22 days ago I posted a request for feedback. Juan said “ It sounds quiet good!...” See his post on that thread. You replied on that thread and told me you had already answered a later thread to centralize there.
On the thread from 14 days ago, Juan reviewed the same file and thought it was good… you had concerns with echo and processing. I then left a message on that thread explaining details that has not been answered there. See the post: 14 days ago – Reinstate account – Sound check. Here was my answer to your questions that has not been answered:
So I guess I don't understand what I should do. Also there should not be an Echo issue.... I'm recording inside a 5x5 cube with sound blankets wrapping all walls. Also to answer your question, this is a raw file no processing, no compression, no de-esser, no enhancer, When recording my gain was peaking between -9 and -6 db and the only thing I did to the file was to normalize to -3db.
I'm using quality equipment, A Warm 87 Mic, to a 286s dbx pre-amp to a focusrite 2i2 digital converter. I have had to coaches of mine (Anthony Reece VO101 and Bill Dewees) listen to my samples and they are quiet pleased with the sound and said I should have no issue.
Also I use Adobe Audition and when I have the sample in audition, using my Beyer Dynamic DT 770 headphones I don't hear a hiss. Please help me I have been working hard to try and meet your standards, but I can't figure out why you are not happy with my sound. I get great ratings at other P2P sites, my coaches (good experienced and expensive coaches) tell me I have broadcast quality audio. On one site I did 5 jobs this week and got 5 star ratings and comments that I exceed my clients expectations --- but I can't meet your standards???? Not complaining, I just want to know what I can do.
My questions in a,b, & c, of 2 above were unanswered for about a week (not complaining just explaining) I happened to get a new Mic Warm 87 and made other enhancements to my sound chain and settings to try and resolve your concern. I did several jobs for clients with my new Mic and settings and carefully examined the sound floor, ensured the lack of processing and got raving reviews from my clients and feedback on one site that my audio was exceptional. So I thought the issue you heard was resolved. When my post from 2 had gone a long time without answer – I thought I was supposed to post a new thread every time I wanted feedback and I posted a thread 8 days ago: “New Mic – does this meet your standards now? And I added new samples to the same link at my drop box for you review.
You reviewed it and see your post on that thread yesterday at 18:36 – you asked questions and stated you heard some hiss noise, that is not present on the other samples.
I answered your question and asked questions on that thread that have not been answered: “ Please see my post that thread: “No processing at all. Just normalized to -3db. I don’t understand the hiss you are hearing. I’m using focusrite 2i2 and my cans are Beyer Dynamic DT770 M . I hear no his at normal gain. I take quality control very seriously and I’m working hard to make sure I am meeting not only your requirements but the requirements of all my clients and platforms I work on. I would very much like to contribute to the VB Community and work on your platform and I am dedicated to addressing any issue you report – I’m just baffled at finding the issue you are reporting. My samples remain posted on the folder on my drop box folder:
I am also posting this on the thread from March 21, 2018 at 16:13 Labeled “ New Mic – Does this meet your standards now? Because I think you wanted it on the thread, but it seems to me it does not get answered after the first post on threads. Unless I’m looking in the wrong place or something.
Sorry for the long post but I have been working on this issue for almost a month and it is still hanging.
I can add additional samples if you need them. I would like to know what steps to take to be reinstated. What are your requirements, how many good samples do you need? Are you the decision maker responsible for reinstatement and if so what specifically would you like me to achieve to be re-instated. In my earlier career as a senior executive I often spearheaded “Process Improvement Projects” and I find it extremely important to understand exactly where the flaws are and find a consistent path to resolution. Your previous feedback has left me guessing (no insult) I just don’t know where to attack because I can’t replicate the issue you are reporting, so any help you could give me would be greatly appreciate.
I apologize for the delay in getting back to you here. I checked the recording shared and it does have a lot of hiss noise. The level, to my ears (using a pair of Sony MDR 7506 and a pair of AudioTechnica ATH-M50x as well as a pair of Dynaudio BM5a MKII studio monitors) is critical and too loud.
As I suggested previously, it could be a good idea to connect the microphone directly to the interface and stop using the preamp to see if there's where the noise is coming from. I'd also reset the gain and start over to ensure you're recording with healthy levels as the recording also sounds with excessive noise which leads to a light distortion.
The issues I'm picking up, as I mentioned before as well, are present throughout the whole recording and the noise is basically constant for which I do believe it's coming from your setup.
