Hi Melissa,
Unfortunately, it sounds as if you're recording too close to the mic which causing plosives and even distortion.
Make sure you record at least 2 inches from the mic using a pop-shield.
If you are already using a pop-shield try recording at an angle so that the air doesn't hit the mic's capsule directly.
Hope that helps,
-Seb
Hi Melissa
I agree with Seb. I believe that aside from recording too near to the microphone's capsule, you should use less gain in your preamplifier. The recording sounds quite distorted and with too much gain which is not acceptable for professional recording. Please make sure you record at an appropriate distance and with healthy levels on your preamplifier!
Also, try a reading without wearing headphones. This has helped me on other platforms and even my first gig here on Voicebunny was accepted with no issues or revisions needed.
Great tip, Percy! If you're curious, the headphones we use in QC are the Sony MDR 7506. They're fantastic and widely recognized for being awesome cans!!
Thanks for all your great feedback, I think I need new headphones. Aside from continued quality issues was the read alright?
Hi Melissa
It's quite complicated to focus on the performance when the recording sounds that distorted. It's quite uncomfortable to the ear because of the issues so it's a bit hard for me to be able to understand well the intention you tried to convey :( I'm sorry!
If you can share another with the issues mentioned fixed, we would be able to provide better input on that front! In the meantime, I think fixing the quality issues is more critical now!
