    Hi Jon,

Unfortunately, this audio has a couple of issues:
-There’s background hiss, especially audible in between words (for example at 0:03). This is probably coming from your recording setup. It could be that you’re using too much gain or it could even be caused by processing.
-There are some minor plosives (for example in “who” at 0:01 & “were” at 0:05). This could be improved by using a pop filter and recording at an appropriate distance from the mic (at least 4 inches away).

Once you’ve addressed these issues we’ll be happy to provide more feedback on new samples.

    -Seb

I've just submitted a new sample, done at my studio this time, not at home. It's a raw .wav file with no editing or post-processing (except a bit of normalization which I can remove if preferred). The same sample is in my samples page here on VB.

This sample sounds much better in terms of hiss/plosives. However, there are some distracting mouth clicks throughout the read that could be edited out. At 0:20 I also hear a mouse click. Make sure editing is smooth and preferably not noticeable.

    Thank you for the feedback.

What you listened to in the last post was a raw/unedited recording in a professional studio. I wanted you to hear what I can offer without doing anything to the recording. In this post, I am sending the edited version (no mouth clicks) with a bit of EQ for cutting plosives (as per your feedback).

I also uploaded this to my samples page. Can I now get reactivated?

Cool, the sample is now good to go.

Make sure the samples in your profile match this quality to avoid having your account de-activated.

    We've now reactivated your account.

    Hi again,

Although I'm reactivated, I'm still working out the acoustic issues at home because although I record in a studio, I suppose I'd still need to audition at home to be fast enough.

Here's a sample done at home. How far off the mark is it?

Unfortunately, this one has too much hiss and even some low frequency hum or noise in the first part of the sample.

There's also a bit of room echo.

We may be able to give you more detailed feedback if you share with us what equipment you're using.

    Hi Jon!

I agree with Seb. The hiss is quite critical on this one but I believe this one is definitely coming from your space. Can you please let us know which equipment you're using? I believe the main problem is coming from a piece of your gear.
