Feedback for "hint of audible room echo"

    Hi JV!

Thanks for sharing! The room echo sounds like some slapback reflections that are making your voice sound quite metallic and adds a resonance to your voice. I believe this is caused by some reflective surfaces that could be uncovered as well as incorrect positioning of the mic in your space.

Keep in mind that recording right in the middle and facing forward is not the most recommended technique. I suggest you face a corner and put the mic a bit a bit off axis. Also, review which surfaces you have around like tables, windows, plastic surfaces and even plywood and try covering them. This should help!

Shoot! I think it was the placement/positioning of a metal monitor arm plate that I had fitted with an iPad to control my laptop. Looks like it made a perfect triangle from my voice back to the rear of the mic.  Can you take a listen to another recording I just made? It's at the top of my samples "Audiobook - The Tire Theif."

If you wouldn't mind checking a few of the others in case I screwed up on one of those as well. Sorry, I'm having trouble hearing it for some reason.

    Cheers, J

    Hi JV!

Thanks for sharing. So the audiobook one sounds better! It's a bit sibilant, so I'd suggest you to record off-axis from the mic's capsule. This usually helps a lot reducing the brightness and sibilance.

The product video recording also sounds quite sibilant. However, it's not that harsh!

I caved and bought a filter. $$ My previous recordings were off-axis but still had a brightness issue. Can you please have a listen again? It should be the top sample. "Audiobook - The Tire Theif." (I left the original below it for comparison.) I'm re-recording a few others that sounded a bit bright as well. Thank you I appreciate your help in solving this issue.

    Hi JV!

This one sounds much richer frequency wise! Good job! However, there are several plosives and the breath sounds are a bit too loud and sound quite hissy. I believe this could be because you're recording a bit too near the filter. Try recording a few inches farther :) Overall the sound is much better!
