    Hey Jeric,

Great voice, but unfortunately the room acoustics are not up to par. There are too many reflections/echoes in the recording. Make sure you use acoustic treatment and record in a small place. Check this post for some tips: https://goo.gl/vGqUIW

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Seb! :)

    I really appreciate the feedback!

I'm thinking of getting the Kaotic Eyeball but I'm wondering if that would be enough. Any thoughts on the minimum equipment I'd need with portability in mind or minimal space?

    Thank you very much! :D

A Kaotica goes a long way but it won't fix it completely. There are other things you can do like recording on a carpet (to avoid floor reflections) and recording far away from walls, windows or any flat surface that may reflect sound. Small spaces are ideal. Even if all those things are in order you may still need room treatment, like acoustic panels in some of the walls to reduce reflections.

Thanks Seb. I tried again with this entry but I failed once again. Any tips for me to sort it out so I can pass?

    Thanks!

    Hey!

The good news is that the room echo has improved considerably. But, there are still some audible reflections in the loud parts.

Also, there are plosives in a lot of words starting with 'p' like 'pool', 'prices' and 'projects'. Make sure you use a good pop-filter when recording, or record those difficult words at an angle so that the air coming out of your mouth doesn't hit the mic capsule directly.

Last thing, are you using any type of noise reduction software? At times the high frequencies sound a bit degraded.

Share with us any new samples and we'll be happy to provide more feedback.

    Hi Seb! :)

I really appreciate all the feedback.

I used a different mic and adjusted some stuff. Here's what I've come up with. :)

    Will this work?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Jeric

This recording's acoustics are actually not very good. There's a high level of room echo as well as a very high level of hiss noise in the background. Which microphone are you using now?

To be honest, the previous recording you shared sounded better than this one overall. What changes did you make?

    Hi Angela! :)

Sorry. I think I uploaded the wrong file. Here's the right one.

    Thanks!

    Hi Jeric

This file sounds quite processed and the problems I mentioned in my previous comment are still present. Keep in mind that using noise reduction processes is not ideal and it's better to fix the issues from their source.

Can you let us know how you're recording? Please let us know the gear you use as well as how you're treating your space.

    hmm.. that's sad. :(

    here is my setup:

    PREAMP: Zoom H6

MIC: Samson Q2U (switching to the MKH-416 soon)

    A standard pop filter

    A silent Opolar Desk Fan

    and a desktop computer

I'm recording in my living room. I'm wanting to make a vocal booth that's collapsible but I couldn't find the sheets I need here in the Philippines.

Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi Jeric

    Thanks for sharing!

In my experience, Zoom recorders are quite noisy when used as an audio interface. They work really well for interviews or even podcasting due to their inbuilt microphone, but since they're not especially designed as professional audio interfaces, it may be quite noisy. We would have to see how it works with your Sennheiser mic!

In regards to acoustic treatment, there are various ways in which you can have a clean space. We created an article where we give you some tips to get you started creating a recording space that can give you great results. Hi Angela! :)

Thank you for the advice. :) I really appreciate it. I've researched more about the Zoom H6 and saw that Mike Delgaudio of Booth Junkie on youtube uses the Zoom H5 and the Sennheiser MKH-416 which is almost exactly my set up except mine is the H6.

I ordered the Fethead Phantom online and it will arrive in a couple of weeks. This should increase my gain and reduce the hiss produced by the zoom.

I'll be purchasing a bunch of Comforters to make a hanging vocal booth and will be set up completely pro level very soon. :)

    Thanks!

    Jeric

p.s. I received an email from Voice Bunny about continuing my application and submitting another sample but I didn't send one in because of my current setup's limitations. I'd like some help reapplying once everything in my setup is sorted out. :) Super thanks!

    Hi Jeric!

Awesome! Maybe the new Zooms are much better now than when I used it! Hopefully, it works really well with your setup. Once you have it all set, just share a recording here. Glad to give you my feedback and help.

    Wonderful, Jeric.

I've noticed that you've already applied 3 times so let me invite you to share in this same post a recent recording to ensure your current sound quality complies with our parameters.

    Hey Jeric!

I've picked up a lot of reverberation throughout the audio. This definitely has to do with the space in which you're recording.

Make sure that all surfaces are properly covered and that any object which surface can be reflecting your voice gets removed as well.
