Client wanted one way...VB Manager wanted another--Then Rejected!
I am angry
I spent quite a while recording a long script for a client who specifically chose me. He referenced my demo showing how he preferred my read. I recorded the script in that read and submitted it.
However, a VB Manager decided that it was not what the client wanted and rejected my submission (though I was reading in the style of the demo the client chose). I then had to rerecord and clean up the lengthy script again...to make the VB Manager happy...THEN the client rejected the read!! I am angry because I am sure the client would have preferred my first read and I could have possibly had a return client.
Solution--For lengthy scripts, there needs to be an area where the talent can submit the first few sentences to be sure the client and the VB Manager and the VO talent are on the same wavelength.
This is extremely frustrating. I earned about $3 a minute by the time you consider the time I spent recording and cleaning and then rerecording and cleaning the production. The VB Manager should not have rejected the submission...they should have let the client give feedback on the initial read.

Hi Eleni,
We're sorry you felt angered by this rejection. We've now removed it from your stats. Have in mind that in these types of cases you can send two takes so the end client has more choices.
However, our QC agent listened to the first take and felt it didn't quite match what was required for the read, and it's normal for us to ask talents to revise projects based on performance. We will analyze this case internally in order to improve our processes, but have in mind that if we approve your read, you will get paid (as we are your clients).
Also, remember to include multiple takes into account when setting your rates.
Thanks for bringing this case up,
-Seb
Hi Eleni
Thank you for sharing your idea here. Aside from what Seb mentioned, I wanted to let you know we're working on an idea to allow you to submit a portion of the project when it's too long. This way, we can make sure the tone matches what is required and the quality matches our standards.
While we work on the best way to process this idea, it would be really useful if you can let us know via email when you receive lengthy projects. We can coordinate internally together so you can send us a sample of the text for us to give you a green light before recording the full project!
Hope this helps you for future projects!
I like the idea of emailing a sample. What email should I use?
Right now, once a job is booked, there seems to be no communication with VB--only to upload the full finished script
Sure, you can try support@voicebunny.com and one of our production managers will help you out.
