Additional Feedback Needed for Rejected Sample

    Hi Matt,

I agree with you; age is not an issue in this sample, it does sound like it belongs in the middle age category.

However, the quality is one of a professionally produced sample, which has tons of compression and EQ. As you say it was produced by a studio, but unfortunately that's not what we normally offer our clients. Some of them do the production themselves and don't like it when it's been already produced.

We believe your samples should be representative of the work you will submit so our clients have a better idea when choosing talents.

I understand your concern regarding bookings from that specific sample but remember that our search is more about you as a whole (your stats, price, success rate...etc) rather than an individual sample.

I hope this makes it clear, and thanks for bringing this case up. We'll review it with our team to improve our alignment regarding age groups.

    -Seb

    Hi Seb,

Thanks for your reply, I’m glad you agree on the age thing.

I guess I see what you’re saying about the compression, and giving the clients an accurate idea of what they’ll receive from me. I suppose I could redo that sample on my own equipment, though unfortunately I don’t have acccess to that backing track. Do you think it’s better to redo it without music anyway?

    Thanks,

    Matt

Yup, I'd go without music, that way the client's focus will be solely on your voice.

OK thanks Seb, I’ll have a go at doing that sometime soon. I suspect the other samples from my demo reel will also get rejected before too long, so I’ll probably do the same for those too.
