Rejected for "overly processed" sound, in spite of raw file. Tips?
Recently submitted my application, but was rejected due to the file sounding "undesirably over-processed [...] possibly due to a noise reduction plugin, an EQ, or a noise gate."
I made certain that my DAW had no plug-ins running, but I did notice my interface has a built in 80hz low cut. Could this be my problem? While it's technically EQ I didn't think such a standard feature would count as processing.
I don't mind re-submitting, I just want to be sure that if this was the cause, I don't waste VB's time by auditioning again without solving the problem.
Thanks!

Hi Cal,
I've listened to your audition and there are a couple of issues that are degrading the quality of your recording:
-There's a bit of slapback room echo (which might be perceived by some as processing).
-There are a bit too many mouth clicks/noises which are distracting us from the read.
-There's background hiss/noise that's audible in between words. Maybe you're recording too close to a computer fan or A/C.
Also, I find the 80hz low cut is actually not doing any harm so I'd leave it on.
I believe with a bit of editing and maybe playing around with mic positioning, these issues can be solved.
Hope that helps!
Hi Cal!
Can you please share a Google Drive, Dropbox or Soundcloud link with the audition? I'd like to take a listen to give you all my comments :)
