The last time I auditioned, the thing that failed me was the reverb/echo of the audio. I'm not sure if the echo is still there and would like to know if it's still there and if I need to do something else to record better audio.

    Hi Lance,

In this particular recording I don't hear an echo problem. Unfortunately, it does have a lot of background hiss/white noise. This is usually caused by recording equipment. I'd check the recording interface/mic first.

In terms of performance, make sure to enunciate every word clearly.

    Hope that helps,

    -Seb

That did help. Thank you but for the white noise, what should I look at exactly? Like how loud mic output is on the interface?

Is this any better? I lowered the mic volume and increased the noise reduction.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DdMQcQlA-xCFuOUxrV-dnRE6x0rFm_x_/view?usp=sharing

    Hi Lance

Unfortunately, the hiss noise is very present and the processing is damaging your voice a lot. I believe the noise is coming from a piece of equipment you're using to record as it's way too loud and constant.

Can you let us know which equipment you're recording with? If you're using a USB microphone, the noise is more likely coming from it.

A Rockville RMM-XLR Dynamic Cardiod Professional Metal Microphone and a Behringer UM2 Audiophile USB Audio Interface with a mic preamplifier

    Hi Lance

In my experience, this U-phoria interface from Behringer is very noisy. As it's quite on the cheap side, the preamplifier and the AD/DA converter are not of the highest quality which usually adds a lot of hiss noise to the recordings. I haven't tried this microphone, so is there a way in which you can use this same microphone with a different interface?

I'm not sure, I will find out. What kind of interface do you recommend?

I'd recommend a Focusrite Scarlett solo as a starting point. It's a reputable brand and has provided good results for other talents. I know some have had success with Presonus equipment (AudioBox) but I've personally never used it.

In terms of the mic, I'd also invest in an upgrade as the Rockville is more aimed at the DJ crowd. In terms of brands AKG or Audio Technica are sort of popular.

I will try to save up to get those but I will make the best with what I have right now. Thank you for the recommendations.

    No problem, Lance!

I am also a big fan of MOTU for interface. I own the MOTU Track 16 but they also hold single-channel interfaces that have great audio quality.

In regards to microphone, I love Blue microphones. I own a Blue Spark which is a fantastic option for vocals for its versatility. It's quite on the cheap side so I'd also suggest you review it.
