    Hi Irene

The recording has a critical level of hiss noise. From the get-go, the hiss is the first thing that you can listen to and it's present all over your voice. The noise is too consistent so I believe it's coming from your setup. How are you recording? Can you let us know which equipment you use?

    Hi Irene,

I agree with Angela, there's excessive hiss/white noise in the recording. Make sure the gain on the fast track is not beyond halfway.

This noise could also be caused by processing or even exporting settings. Would you mind running us through your recording process (what software, sample rate, bit rate, etc..)?

    Hi Irene

Thanks for sharing. Aside from what Seb said, I'd like to point out that the Fast Track is quite noisy. The M-Audio Fast Track is designed to be on the cheaper side for which the preamps and AD/DA converters can lack quite a bit. It could be a good option to consider trying a different interface.

There are some interfaces that have pretty good converters and preamplifiers at lower price points. PreSonus and Focusrite have really good pieces for fair prices or, if you want to go a little higher, Apogee, MOTU and RME have great interfaces, too.

I will purchase a better interface. Looking at Focusrite as suggested in one of your articles about reducing hiss. Thank you so much. Very helpful.

Awesome, Irene! That would be a good option.

I also suggest you look at other options. We recommend Focusrite but there are a lot of brands that may be useful and there are many reviews online you can look at :)

When you have it, please feel free to reach back and share a recording with us. Happy to listen and give you any feedback we have.
