    Hi Sion!

I tried to open the .wav file and I got an error. I'd like to check that one to ensure I'm listening to an uncompressed recording! Would you mind sharing it again?

    Thanks!

    Hi Angela,

I do have to start by saying you owe me a M :)) It's Simon here!

Then I'd like to say thanks in advance for your help and expertise and time, as I can see you deal with most of the feedback here on the site and must have the patience of a saint- so thanks.

I have just tried the link to Google Drive and it worked fine for me, so I will do this resent and here is new link

Then I have uploaded again just in case both the MP3 and WAV files (both without any post-production as the brief- I'm an ex-Paratrooper and learned to LISTEN to orders- such as "don't pull THAT cord yet or pull that pin YET :))

    MP3 file link @ Google Drive https://drive.google.com/open?id=16vtVCXqUxc51g7t0ZujqKj6qTwFX0Wy1

Awaiting your orders Angela, when you get a moment, again thanks a bundle for your help, advice and time

All the very best Simon Walton (He who was nearly the Gecko!)

Thanks, Simon! Oops, sorry for the typo! Human mistake, yikes!

Thanks for sharing the file. Let me share the issues I found with the file.

    1. The first thing I notice is a high level of hiss noise and the excessive gain of the file. There are some areas that sound distorted so I would recommend you to reduce the gain you have on your preamp. The hiss noise could be a byproduct of the excessive gain as well as being generated by a piece of equipment.

    2. The room echo is, indeed, quite strong. It's very present and I believe it's caused by an inappropriate acoustic treatment of your space. I suggest you review how you're treating and seeing which reflective surfaces you have around you. Keep in mind there are some materials that are more reflective than others, so it's important to understand which surfaces require a thicker padding.

    3. The recording is unedited for which there are various mouth noises and breaths that are quite uncomfortable and loud. It's important to always ensure you are cleaning the files from breaths, mouth noises and other background noises that can be distracting. The best way to do this is by cutting and fading the areas where the problems are present.

Can you let me know how you're recording? Please let me know which gear you have and, if it's possible, share some pictures of your space. We may be able to pinpoint what you can do to improve!
