HI Angela! Happy New Year! VB audition was kicked back this time with the following comment.

Thank you for your submission; we greatly appreciate your effort. Unfortunately, we won\'t be able to approve your application due to the following issue(s).

-There are undesirable mouth noises in your recording that distract from the quality of the performance.

If I had taken the breath out would it have passed?

Here is the sample that was rejected.  Thanks for your input and advice!

    -Danny

    Hi Daniel

Thanks for sharing. The problem here is that there are various mouth noises. Mouth noises are different than breaths as they're usually all over the recording and are caused by recording without appropriate hydration. Also, sometimes, they can be made more prominent when you record too near to the mic. Some of them are editable, but it's usually better to make sure you are drinking enough water before (and sometimes while) recording.

The recording also sounds a bit boxy and nasal. It's not too bad, but you may want to record at an angle from the mic, off-axis, to reduce this sound.

There are a lot of tips to control mouth noises! We have an article on the topic that you may want to try next time you record: https://help.bunnyinc.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205412970-Tip-6-5-ways-to-keep-mouth-noises-under-control

Good morning Angela! Thanks for your feedback.  Boy, I'm feeling confused and frustrated.  You've been working with me on this now for several attempts.  I used the exact same microphone setting and position as you had recommended to me from our last exchange, which you were confident would pass the test. I've got my headphones turned all the way up and I just can't hear any mouth noises? I've read your article and will try the green apple and water suggestion when submitting the next audio sample. You guys weren't kidding about only 1% getting through.  I'm not giving up however!

What double confuses me is that I'm auditioning and getting work through other avenues. But, I sure would like to add this to my work portfolio and make us both some money!

    -Sincerely,

    Danny Blanco

    Hi Daniel

I do think the overall quality is really nice, for which I mentioned the issue is not too bad. Try being a bit more hydrated and editing the noises you find. I am confident your overall sound is really, really good!
