    Hi Aron,

I am curious why you are running the mic through the Behringer? Doesn't the Lexicon Alpha interface have its own mic pr-amp with phantom power? If that's correct, I'd sure eliminate that extra step (the Behringer) in the audio chain.

    Just a thought,

Joe, unfortunately I don't think so. I have the LEXALPHAV model, and it doesn't have phantom power :-(. Do you think it's the behringer that's creating the over-processed sound?

Not sure Aron, but that signal chain is longer than it should be ideally. Are all the EQ settings flat on the Behringer?

Also is the output of the Beheringer at line level or mic level going into the Lexicon Alpha (which indeed does not seem to have phantom power).

If it doesn't break the bank, I'd get an interface with phantom powered (48v) XLR mic input. That way you'd elimininate a step of signal degradation in the record chain and that nice AT 2035 mic will likely sound better in your recordings. (The AT 2020 is what I use. I also have an AKG 414 that I use on other people, but the AT2020 sounds better on my voice.)

    Best of luck,

    Joe
