Hiss HELP!

Brandon, you need to provide more information. Are you recording next to your computer? What are your levels like? If you record with a low input level and then increase the gain, you can end up with increased noise—including hiss. Record as far away from computers and drives as possible. Use the right amount of gain when you record. Try to isolate any noises by recording without making a noise—don't speak, even breath for a few seconds—and see what your noise floor is like.

    Hi Brandon,

Listening to your audition it seems the source of the hiss might be a computer fan or A/C in your room. I agree with John, try recording as far away as possible from any noise sources. I also hear some slight plosives, make sure to record with a professional pop-filter and at an appropriate distance.

John and Sebastian, I really appreciate your help and insight. My mic is about 6-8 ft. away from the computer, but I'll see about making more space and look into a pop-filter.

I'll also pay closer attention to my input levels and gain.

Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback.
