Issue with standards
Hi there. Let me start by saying that I have been active with Voicebunny for a number of a years now and haven't had any issues until as of late.
I was recently rejected for an contest due to "age," however my real age and the age at which I can make my voice sound are not one in the same, so I'm curious as to who has this final discretion. I'd assume, as most would, it would and should be the client.
My second issue which just seemed to come about is this concern with white noise and background sound - why is it that the same setup and studio standards which garner approval 4/5 times are suddenly not applicable for one order? Are there different QC administrators for contests and bookings?
If someone could clarify, that'd be smashing. The relative lack of insight about standards has become increasingly frustrating, particularly when the payouts are embarrassingly low. Cheers.

Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for sharing your concerns. Regarding age, this particular project asks for a teenage voice and yours sounds better suited to the young adult category. We do have to make those decisions because we need to offer options that are suitable to what's requested in the project.
Regarding hiss, please share with us the links of the projects where you were rejected because of hiss. Remember that the same equipment can yield different results as there are other factors (like speaking volume, distance to mic) that can make your recording hissier.
And regarding speedies and contests, we do have to be strict with those as the client has never heard the voice and we have to guarantee the best possible quality. Rest assured it's the same team that checks all incoming projects.
Hope that clears your doubts.
This issue in regards to age seems an oddity as my submitting for that category has never been an issue in the past, frankly. Pertaining to the "hiss," I've already edited the piece and it's been accepted so that's a bit null and void. And as for the speedies and contests, again, a lack of consistency is what appears to be the problem more often than not particularly when one has the option to listen to other submissions that fall far below what even a professional would deem to be applicable standards.
I appreciate you feedback, Sebastian and I hope that these sort of things don't persist in the long term. As I had initially mentioned, I've been with Voicebunny for some time now and the quality of service that I as an artist have received has greatly diminished with time which is a pity.
Hey Sebastian,
I just wanted to thank you again for your response. However, I just wanted to bring attention to a recent revelation in relation to the issue pertaining with age - the gig that had been posted as a contest which I was rejected from participating in has resulted in a booking for me from the client for the gig, so the aforementioned issue with age and the discretion of individuals approving contest submissions is clearly lacking. This is truly something that needs to be taken into consideration going forward. Thanks again for your time.
