Give me a break! You must have rejected the wrong audition.

I was told that the Bunny managers interact here and reply to these posts. Support told me to bring my issue here, but so far I'm not getting any help with this.

    Hello Adam

So sorry for the late replies as we're having our annual retreat and the whole week is filled with different events we must attend.

I must agree with the comments from the QC team. It does have background noise and it sounds filtered. The microphone remark was just a wild guess as we have no way of knowing the exact gear you're using. Nonetheless, there's definitely something in your recording chain that is negatively impacting the final audio.

Could you please tell us what's your set up like and how your recording process is structured? Just to have a clearer image of what could be happening.

    Thanks so much

Wow $450 for a microphone? Min'es a good studio quality mic but it cost less than 200 dollars at an auction online.

My voiceover was rejected for background noise too. And I'm working on that. Ill be soon attempting a second voiceover after my studio is upgraded.

    Cheers Adam and Pena

    Oscar,

" must agree with the comments from the QC team. It does have background noise"

I've been doing it for 10 years. See the attached image. There is NO background noise. The background audio is below -60db. (And NO, I'm not using a noise reducer plugin.)

I'm an an insanely quiet vocal booth with zero reverb. It's custom built and quieter than most $10,000 vocal booths. Furthermore I live in the woods in Alaska. My house is incredibly quiet. I don't have heat, or air-condition on. There are NO noises here. I live in one of the most quiet environments one could hope to record in. There is NO background noise on any of my recordings. And if there is, you're going to have to find a way to prove it. No one else I've asked here's it.

    " it sounds filtered"

What does that even mean? That is not a term used in audio engineering. Perhaps you mean "processed?"
Technically, ALL audio is processed. Any use of any audio processing constitutes processing. A roll-off switch constitutes processing. If you're wondering if I'm using "noise reduction" the answer is absolutely NOT.

I use a tiny bit of EQ - primarily just to roll off the bass, and bring my sibilance down a bit at around 6k. I use a tiny bit of compression -20 Threshold, Ration 1.3. That is hardly any compression at all. I use a $450 RE20, and I also have an AT5050. I use high-end waves plugins. I record with TwistedWave, and then process the audio, and then save it as a mono wave file and send it to Voice Bunny. I've been a professional voice talent for 4 years, and I've completed thousands of voice overs. I think I've had one complaint about a year ago about my sibilance being a bit harsh. Outside of that people love my work, and I have plenty rolling in. I've never gotten much out of VoiceBunny, and I haven't needed it, frankly. Ive found it more of a hassle than anything else. What's strange is that most of my recordings are accepted. And then out fo the blue I've had two rejected. One of them was rejected only 8 hours after another one was accepted. Nothing changed in my setup. Sorry, bro. This job must be screwing with your hearing.

It's clear to me that the "managers" around here are just circling the wagons and defending each other. Assuming more than one of you have even listened to the audio - I have only heard from you. If there's noise, prove it. You can't even identify what frequency this "noise" is at can you?

    Hey Adam

This is what we mean when we say “filtered”: all the frequencies above 10K are gone from the audio. They were removed/“filtered” out, as per your audio wave file (bottom image). In image 2 (top) we see all frequencies up to 20K, not “filtered”.

The kind of sound we're looking for is similar to this https://voicebunny.com/samples/145408
