    Hello Conor

I've picked up some hiss noise behind your voice; it is present throughout the recording.

You can pick it up clearly by paying close attention to the change between silence and voice.

Maybe there's a faulty wire or some piece of gear that you're using that's causing this issue. If you happen to be able to test your setup, that would be ideal in order to recognize where is exactly the flaw.

    Hey Conor!

Adding to what Oscar pointed out, I would double-check the gain settings used in your recording gear (interface and/or pre-amp). The audible white noise in the background (discernible from the totally silent noise floor in the edited portions) plus the harshness in your sibilant sounds and plosives indicate that your gain is too high.

What I do is record empty takes until I get a totally silent noise floor. In your case, it may be a 1 or 2 decibel excess. So, dial the gain down and experiment. Also, to help with them sibilants and plosives (which are not at a critical level mind you), try positioning your mouth at a 45º angle respective to the position of your microphone's capsule. This will naturally rid your recording of them pesky sounds and make your post-processing much easier.

Once you're satisfied with what you get, upload a totally unprocessed file so that we can listen closely and recommend the appropriate processing to be done so that you're always in compliance with Voice Bunny standards.

    Cheers!
