Why was my submission rejected?
|
Hello, My audition was after "careful consideration." rejected. And to be honest, I am very confused for the reasons given. The reasons given were: "Overfiltered/Overprocessed audio, " and I did not process my audio, that is how I sound. I also recorded in an isolated sound booth with ambient noise being under 50db. My equipment is of a high quality.
I have provided a link to a folder with two version. In the folder the original non-processed file that was rejected and a second one that had some noise reduction and compression added (processed.) Which is not what they were apparently looking for.

Hi,
Unfortunately, the audio sounds very muddy and lacks clarity. At what distance are you recording from the mic?
Also, there's a low-frequency rumble throughout the recording as if there was an A/C on or computer fan nearby.
@sebastian torres:
Thank your for the feedback. I hear what you are saying about the "muddy" sound. I was recording from about 15 to 20 cm away from the mic. It has a foam filter/eye thing on it. I can try again with it off and see if that makes a different. I can also try with the Akg 414 instead of the Neumann tlm 102 to see if that does anything. To be honest though that is how my voice sounds. I recorded last year in another studio and it sounded similar.
In regards to the rumble I can't hear it. I'll listen again with the volume way up to try and see what you are talking about. There were no fans/machines on anywhere near the booth or the microphone. If you say you hear it though I believe you. I will try and see how that issue can be resolved.
