Help! I received a 1 star review :( With NO FEEDBACK
I’m not going to lie, I want to quit right now. It seems excessively uncool to leave a 1 star review with no feedback at all. How am I supposed to know if it was because I just didn’t have the sound they were looking for, or if because I personally sounded bad? Was my recording too noisy? Were there issues with the files? I have no way of knowing what I need to do to improve when someone gives me a 1 star review with absolutely no feedback!
I’m wondering if it has to do with the grammar in the piece. There were SEVERAL things that could have been grammatical errors- you can hear one of them on Part 3 “And enabling them focus on legacy applications” I felt like it should have been “Enabling them TO focus on legacy applications”. I did not fix most of the grammatical errors in the audio- but there was at least one that had the wrong tense and I just corrected the tense- it was glaring. Should I have corrected ALL of the grammar? Did the reviewer just not notice their mistakes until I said them out loud? Or are they maybe mad that I DID correct the one major tense issue?
UGh. So frustrating. VoiceBunny- I’m disappointed that you allow 1 star reviews with no feedback. This does NOT help us improve the quality of our work.
Can anyone give me a review for real- I’m totally open to fixing any issues- obviously I can’t change my VOICE, if they just didn’t like that- so please offer me some constructive criticism!

Hi Aleesha, I'm sorry that the client gave no reasons behind that review. I'll get in touch with them and ask for further clarification. I'll get back to you as soon as I get a response!
Hi Aleesha,
I'm a actor like you, not a Bunny Manager, but listened to the sample you linked.
I have no idea what the client may say, but if this is any help, you might want to try sounding more conversational. You have a nice voice, but the delivery seems almost too precise, like maybe you're over-enunciating? The inflections are nice (sounds like you know what you're talking about) but perhaps a little less articulation would sound more natural.
Just my two cents worth.
Don't give up, you can do this.
Regards,
Joe Brown
Thanks! Thats great feedback- I'm a bit confused as to how that would get me a 1 star review though, especially since I would have been happy to make a revision with a different tone. I have done that several times for other clients when they wanted a bit different tone. 1 star seems like “wow this person really sucked...”
Agreed: Getting a bad review without the chance to re-record is really frustrating. It's happened to me too.
Just seems rather mean-spirited to accept the work but then give only 1 star. I wonder if it was a mistake on the client's part?
VoiceBunny reached out to them but they haven’t responded. I still can’t help wondering if its because I didn’t correct the errors- I’ve learned my lessons though, and now I flag everything and ask before I record it with a correction or without a correction. I just assumed they would ask for a revision. Oh well.
Yes, I flag... probably most jobs... if I have any question at all. So far the Bunny Managers have been terrific about those. No one has complained... yet. :)
Hi Aleesha! We still haven't received a response from the Client, but we'll try following up one more time next week. As Joe recommends, whenever you see something that's off, it's best to flag the project so one of our Production Managers can take care of it.
