I use Sony MDRZX110 headphones, cheap, basic headphones are all they are. The audio quality was perfect, it sounded better than the audio file I placed in here for review. I followed the requested recording set by the quality at Voice Bunny and I'm still in the same situation as before.
I just listened via AKG K240 headphones, not the defacto Sony standard, but I hear almost no background noise. I do hear breaths between phrases however. Not that all breaths should be removed - they shouldn't. Makes the delivery sound robotic. But I will say that I manually lower breaths (by about 9db) in every track I submit. Again, not all breaths, but the ones that stand out.
As far as the "loud background noise" comment from QC: It took ma a while to realize that because of the reviewing volume QC has, they often rely on pre-written comments... saves them time in typing individual - and frequently the same - answer. It used to bug me no end early in the VB experience. My guess is the QC reviewer heard those breaths and possibly mistook them for background noise or selected an inaccurate answer by mistake.
One thing about speedies: some people have success with them. I didn't. But most of VB's business is bookings anyway, so I stopped accepting speedies because of the frustration, for me anyway. I just rely on bookings now and don't feel the pressure of having to work lightning fast.
It is incredibly mystifying and disheartening to get those messages, I do understand.
You've overcome the audio problems. Hope you can get past these other start-up headaches and have great success.
