    Steven,

Another VO guy here who likes to stay up with the community. Great voice and read! The only tech thing I hear by way of nit-pic critique is possibly some close-order reflections, possibly off nearby hard surfaces such as copy stand, desk, computer screen even? In my own space I use a number of towels to cover those kinds of things, except computer screen of course. I just angle that in a way that reflections go away from the mic.

But overall, sounds good to these old ears! (VB Managers have yourger ears and more expensive headphones :)

Hi Steven, great to see you making your way through the community.

First, as Joe said, great voice and read, that's very very good!

Things to improve and make it even better:

    • There is some boxiness on your recording, my recommendation, please follow Joe's recommendation, that's something that we've seen that works most of the time.
    • There is some white noise on your recording, an effective way to reduce it or lower the noise floor in one’s recordings is to lower the gain used in the preamp/interface. Depending on what kind of microphone and recording gear you’re using, your mileage may vary.
    • Please remember to normalize your audio to de -3dBFS that our clients prefer.

Pretty sure you can tackle those minor things and you'll be ready in no time.

    Hope this helps

BTW, Joe made me laugh with that last comment!

Thank you all for the feedback. I will be posting again in this thread with a few different setups attempts to find the best fitting one.
    My equipment:
    MXL 990 Mic
    Mogami XLR
    Alesis 6 Multimix USB mixer
    Metal wind screen
    FL Studio Pro

I do have a Blue Sparks mic that I use for singing. The only issue with it is the sensitivity. The quality is great but it captures too much compared to the MXL 990.

I am adding some more sound diffusers in my recording space. I am also going to try using an audio box around the mic to see if that might be a better option.

Here is a new sample with audio shield and I think I might have figured out a good setup.

Well, Mr. Steven, I think you did figure out a good setup.

There is still some white noise, but it's way lower than what you presented on your first recording.

If you want to take it a step further, try and lower a bit the gain on your mic, see if that helps with that small amount of white noise there. But I must congratulate you, great amount of improvement right there.

    Hello again!

So I think I was able to remove the last bit of white noise. I was able to isolate the area and remove the noise before normalizing. Lowering the gain on my mixer made the white noise more prevalent after I normalized it. Maybe I misunderstood and did it wrong but I think this one came out good.

Hey Mr. Steven, I'm glad to inform you that you've accomplished to completely remove white noise from your recordings!

Let me congratulate you for your patience and your willingness to improve your quality, it's really exciting for us to see our Pros do the journey you just this and come out on top of the situation.

I hope we can see more of you here on the community, not only with questions but also sharing with the others what just happened, the process you had and the results that worked out for you.

Let me know if there's anything else you need help with.

Hi Steven, I'm very sorry to read this.

What's happening now is that there is some boxiness on your recording, and tho I seemed smaller on the previous sample you sent me, in this last one, the one rejected, is more present.

Please let me know if you can listen to the issue here.

There are many possible solutions to this, but, to have a more accurate one, would you mind sharing with me pictures of your recording space, that way I can really understand what's happening and bring a couple of suggestions for you.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Steven, could you please allow people to see the files on your drive link?

It's telling me that I'm not allowed to view what's in there.

That is weird because I accepted your request to access. Here should be an open folder for you. https://drive.google.com/open?id=17kak6xoG5s8Vid49kmudGuw8yf8Ya5Lc

Thanks for sharing! Now we know what we're using

    Couple of questions:

    • What do you have behind you?
    • How far from the mic are your recording?

Tho you have acoustic treatment on your space, the walls might be playing against you, any chance you can record facing the acoustic foam or the curtain? That's only an experiment but maybe it could give us better results than the actual setting, the reason for that is that reflections won't bounce out of the wall, rather they would be trapped on those materials.

Please do try to experiment and change positions, I'll be waiting for your results.
