Sample rejected as overly processed

I uploaded a sample I recorded at 44100 Hz/24 bits. After trimming the front and back to 0.5 seconds, I exported it as a 16 bit WAV file. I was told my recording was heavily compressed. The only thing I did was normalize it to -3.0 db. I'd really appreciate some help.

I ran an analysis of the sample. The peak level was -3.0 db, the RMS level was -22.0 db, the noise floor was -65.9 db.

Hi Mark, it's great to see you here, welcome to the community!

I have a couple of thoughts about your recording:
1. Amazing voice man, kudos there!
2. Your gain is right on point!
3. There is some hiss on your recording, an effective way to reduce it is to lower the gain used in the preamp/interface. Depending on what kind of microphone and recording gear you’re using, your mileage may vary. You can check this webinar we hosted on how to control and manage hiss: https://bit.ly/2ZixGeI.
4. There is no over-processing, but what I can hear is that maybe at 0:29 'got any ideas?' sounds as if you had a gate on your recording, and wasn't fast enough to let all your consonants come through.
