Submission Rejection: What age do you hear in this recording?

    Hi, Teresa!

Such a treat to have you around here, thanks for reaching out =)

The age subject is perhaps one of the trickiest ones for me and all of those involved in the QC Process as the criteria we're obligated to apply are based upon feedback from thousands of projects for this particular client. I'd approve the audio but this is not up to me, unfortunately.

You and I (as pros) are walking that very fine line between categories, where our voice is not suitable for senior jobs but not quite... fresh as clients like for the youngest of audiences either. We're working on many new features that will help the clients decide better what kind of young adult they refer to: as this can cover anyone from 21 to 40 so to speak, but, in this case, their preference tends to go for the 'younger sounding voices'. I love your tone, but it is not precisely one to peg for the kind of audience they're targeting with the ad.

I will reach out to those in the loop about these projects so that we can analyze your case along with many others in similar circumstances; so once again, thank you for the very valuable feedback!

I'll also be reaching the Pro Management Bunnies to let them know about this occurrence, I'm sure their input will be super valuable to us all.

    Stay tuned for more info!

I just had a project rejected for age, but 5 days ago I did the same spot with two words changed and it was CLIENT approved....

The age rejections should be left to clients to decide, shouldn't they?!

    Hi Robin,

Can you share the link to that project with us, please?

That way we can evaluate the situation for you.

    Thank you Héctor!

Yes!  It can be difficult to navigate walking that fine line, on one hand, some of my clients tell me I sound so young and book me for all their teenager stuff and then some of my clients say they love how maternal and warm my voice sounds!  Haha... it goes with the job!  I think I am narrowing down the types of young adult I get rejected for on Voice Bunny and will avoid those where I can.

I am so happy my question contributed to possible future updates!  I'm excited to see those roll out.   And Robin, I've had similar situations happen on Voice Bunny as well, my experience, when I post in the community for rejections I don't understand, like in this instance, I get really great feedback that I can use from both Voice Bunny and fellow pros.  Johnatan will take care of your concerns, he's awesome!

Thanks Héctor for looking at this. The age rejections can be really confusing for the voice actor sometimes.

And thanks Teresa, for your thoughts, too!

    Hey, Ladies!

Thank you for the input and the empathy. It's vital for us to improve our processes and this of course involves your feedback.

I'll make sure that both Johnny and I relay how important this subject is for you all in the Pro side of the equation, since this perfectly aligns with the goals we've set, to satisfy the needs of our clients in the most precise manner.

The one thought I could leave you with is this one: voiceover work is made of 50% rejection, 100% tenacity.

Once again, thank you all for sharing this treasure trove of info with us, we appreciate you and your hard work, always!
