    Hey Steven!

    How are you?

Thanks a lot for reaching out. Hope this post finds you well and safe.

I was listening to your audios and I have a couple of remarks:

    1. First of all, I noticed that both audios sound completely different. Could you please specify if the recordings were made in the same space and with the same conditions?

    2. From my point of view, both audios have room echo. The first one is a slight one and far less noticeable that the second one and it could be managed easily in order to improve it and get an excellent quality. The second one has a lot more room echo and a little bit of boxiness. If the spaces where you recorded are different, I would definitely advice you to record on the space where you recorded the first audio. If it is the same space, try to recreate the same conditions that you were using at that time (equipment, acoustic treatment, etc),

    3. Please make sure to normalize the volume level to -3dBFS of your audios as per our quality control requirements :).

Let me know your thoughts about it  :)

    Hope you enjoy your week.

    Hello Gabriel,

I am doing well.  Thank you for taking the time to critique my samples.  The two samples were in fact recorded in different locations and with different microphones.  The first sample "4 stars" was recorded in my sound room in my basement.  The room if roughly 8 feet by 12 feet and has a carpeted floor, open ceiling and the area where I record is insulated on two sides of the microphone.  All reflective surfaces have been covered with foam insulation.  I use a Tonor Pro microphone with phantom power attached to a boom stand with shock ring and a screen for plosives.  I record with Audacity and other than editing out breathes and possible mouth noise, the only other thing I do is normalize to -3dB and switch it to 16bit.  I export to audio as an mp3 file.

The second sample was recorded in an open room with an enclosed insulated home-made microphone box.  The microphone used was a Blue Snowball USB mic.

I am trying to ensure that samples posted on my page are Not rejected or removed so any additional help or tips would be greatly appreciated.  Would sample one be declined?

    thanks,

    Steve K

    Hi Steve!

Thanks a lot for reaching out and thank you very much for the details.

The first audio is the one that is sounding better. From my point of view, it sounds good! I think the only thing that might improve a little bit is the room echo as I told you on my post above and a little bit more of padding will make it from my perspective. The second audio has a little bit more issues like boxiness and room echo and probably that one will get rejected. From now on, I would try to record all the samples with the same conditions of the first sample adding a little bit more of padding and I think that will make it :).

If you want you can submit new samples so I can listen to them so we can be sure about it :).

    Best regards,

    Hey Stevie!

How are you?? Hope this post finds you and your beloved ones well and safe.

Sample is sounding good! The room echo improved a lot :).

Thanks for taking the time and commitment to improve the quality of your audios. The only thing that I noticed is that the first word of the audio is not clear enough. At least I was not able to understand what were you saying. Maybe I'm guessing it might be a proper name I'm not familiar with but overall the audio is sounding good.

Thanks a lot for sending it up.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    All the best,

    Gabriel

    Hey Stevie! How are you??

Hope you and your beloved ones are well and safe!

I was checking your audio. The quality is good! It has a little bit of room echo but it is not distracting at all. To improve it you could try maybe using a little bit more of padding and I think that will do it, but the overall quality is good!

    Have a nice weekend :),

    Hi Gabriel,

I would like to add some character voices to my profile.  Can you listen to the following three demos and tell me if you think they would pass quality control.

    Thank you,

    Stevie Kay

    Hey Stevie!

    How are you??

I was checking your samples and I noticed  some room echo, even greater than the one I mentioned on our previous conversation. May I ask if you are recording with the same acoustic conditions? Also please make sure to normalize all your samples to -3dbFs as per our QC standards.

Looking forward to listen from you!

    All the best,

    Gabriel

I added another layer of insulation which I think may have been leaning on my boom arm and possibly vibrating during the recording.  I also recorded these at a voice level louder than other recordings.  I am having a little trouble finding the sweet spot for setting recording volume and playback volume.  Any suggestions?   Right now I have recording volume at 83% and playback at 80%.  And yes, all samples were normalized to -3db.

    Thank you

    Hello Steven!

How are you? Thanks a lot for reaching out.

Yes, you should select a level that prints a signal of -9 to -6 dB maximum while recording, if there is  audible white noise and/or electric noise that indicates that there may be some adjustment to do. An ideal signal would be as quiet as possible at the levels mentioned. After that you  should normalize your best recording to -3 dBFS Peak Level. You should not hear any noise (like a balloon letting air out [hiss]), your echoes and reflections should be minimal, and there shouldn’t be any presence of ambient noise. :)

Hope this works! Have a great day :).

    Hello Steven!!

How are you? Hope this post finds you well.

On this one there is a strange issue that I haven't noticed on any of the previous audios. I can notice some hiss/white noise on top of your voice :/

Has anything changed on your equipment/setup compared to the previous recordings??

Please let me know. Happy to help!!

    Hey Gabriel,

I just completed construction of a new recording booth.  I made a new recording just to see what you think of the area.

    thanks

    Hello Stevie! How are you?

Hope this post finds you well. I was listening to your sample, but unfortunately there is still some room echo. What do you think if you attach some pictures of your recording space so I can give you detailed feedback on how to improve your acoustics and see if we can tackle the issue together :).

    Please let me know.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

The recording space that I just built is 3x3 closet with an 8 foot ceiling.  All walls have been insulated with acoustic insulation 3.5inches.  The floor is carpeted and the ceiling is also insulated.  The microphone is positioned to the rear corner of the booth so my voice goes directly into the insulation.  At the time of the earlier recording I had not yet treated the third wall.

I have attached pictures for reference

    Hey Stevie! How are you?

Thanks a lot for submitting the pictures of your recording space as well as the new sample. With the last changes you did you absolutely nailed it. There is no room echo at all on the last recording. If you keep the quality like that for all your audios, I don't think you are going to have issues with our QC team :).

Thanks a lot for being so committed and be willing to improve the quality of your recordings. At Bunny Studio we highly appreciate it :).

Please let me know if you need anything else, I'm always happy to help.

    Have a nice weekend,
