Rejected Application
To whom this may concern,
I hope you're doing well and being safe!
I have applied to become a part of the voice bunny team yesterday, and I was sort of disappointed, to be honest, to learn that my application has been denied due to the fact that: "It sounds as if the audio was not recorded with professional equipment".
I would kindly like to assure you that the equipment I am using is in fact very
professional; the microphone I am using is an 'M-Audio Condenser Nova Class
A Fet' whereas the interface I am using is the 'M-Audio Fast Track C400'.
I am also using a core i7 MacBook Pro to edit my recording on Logic Pro X, meaning I probably will never have to face any issues whatsoever with delayed exports, therefore, i truly
believe I deserve another shot.
You can find the link to download the test recording I submitted here below:
Is there anything I can do in order to receive a reconsideration on my application?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Warmest regards,
Jennifer Kougioumtzi

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about your setup.
It seems like the issue is not with your equipment as much as it is with your acoustic environment.
We evaluated your audio and it seems like you could benefit from some acoustic treatment, here are some tips for you: https://bit.ly/2MrNsSV
Also, do you think you can share pictures of your recording space with us? That will allow us to provide you with more specific feedback.
Looking forward to your reply
Hey Johnatan,
Happy to hear from you!
I am actually recording from home but I would like to point out that all the windows installed at home are triple layered and designed specifically for noise cancellation, meaning if I am recording with all the windows closed, there is no way to catch any noise from the outside in.
Attached is a photo of my work space.
Here below is a link to download the monologue I wrote, recorded and edited for your reference:

I am currently in the process of purchasing a reflection filter however I would really appreciate it if you could check the link to this song I recorded from home:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaRUJ4VUwhM
The sound is net and clear as you can see.
I have taken a look at all the tips provided in the above link and have applied all the requested.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do please! Would really love to be a part of your team and I honestly think we could create beautiful work together.
Looking forward to hearing back from you!
Warmest regards,
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for those pictures and those new audios.
First, congratulations on that song! It's sounding very good, may you have many followers and people noticing your work.
As for the recording, when evaluating the monologue file, we can still hear room tone. Even though your home has its windows treated, you'll need a dedicated space to produce better recordings, at least for voice-over work.
Do you think we can find a new space to experiment? Usually, walk-in closets will do the trick, some Pros will use some small rooms in their homes, fill them with thick materials such as clothes, blankets, pillows, towels, etc to control the reflections.
Same as you, we think we can do amazing work together, let us know what you think
Hey Johnatan,
Thank you so much for your kind words, really means the world to me!
In fact I have the perfect walk in closet for this and can definitely send you a new recording from that closet, however I will be purchasing the reflective filter tomorrow during the day (Beirut time), would you like me to send you the new recording after setting up the filter or would you like me to test it out right now?
In all cases, let me know which text you would like me to record and I'll be on stand by :)
Looking forward to hearing back from you!
Warmest regards
You deserve them, thank you for sharing your amazing gift with us.
That sounds amazing! We can't wait to hear what comes out of that new setup. We can wait until you get your new stuff and set it up properly.
Just send us a new message as soon as you feel ready and comfortable, we'll be ready to help you :D
Hey Johnatan,
Hope you're doing well!
Sorry for the late response, yesterday was a super hectic day, however I finally set up the filter and I am ready to give it another go!
Let me know which text you would like me to perform!
Looking forward to hearing back from you :)
Totally ok, Jennifer. I hope everything turned out ok tho.

Hi Jennifer
It was a great weekend, thank you for that, I hope you had a wonderful weekend yourself.
Thank you for this new submission, there are a few things we should take care of:
Let me know what you think
Hey Johnatan,
Hope you're having a cool week so far!
Sorry for the late response, I was facing some personal issues and I just got the time to view your feedback.
I am currently in the process of transforming one of the rooms in my house into a sound proof studio, which is going to take some time.
In the mean time however, I tried to normalize the track I already shared with you at -3dBFS and I also exported it as mono, here is the link to download it:
https://we.tl/t-lsCQa1atu8
Let me know if this export function is the correct one so that I could try to re-record the track from inside the closet with the same settings.
Looking forward to hearing from you :)
Warmest regards,
Jenn
Hi Jen,
I hope everything is well now.
That's great news! Can't wait to hear what comes out of that new studio!
It worked!!! I just downloaded your file and it is mono, so you could replicate it in your next audio and we should be fine.
Looking forward to your next reply :D
All the best
Hello Johnatan,
I hope you’re doing well!
I apologize for the delay, but these past couple of months have been extremely odd in our country, we experienced a traumatizing ammonium nitrate bomb which left us all with scars on all levels, mental and physical.
I was also in the process of finding the perfect studio to collaborate with in order to receive the best quality of sound since I couldn’t eliminate the room tone from my home set up.
I took the liberty of recording three different scripts at the studio, you can download them from the below link:
https://we.tl/t-vyDT6nGjr2
I tried to reapply on the website but I had to request reconsideration, so I thought I could contact you here.
I truly believe that we can create beautiful work together considering our shared passion for voice acting.
I can confidently say that I think you will be impressed by these recordings :)
Thank you for keeping a close eye on my case since day one, and again, I apologize for the delay, but I believe that sometimes life asks you to wait for something so that it can provide you with a better alternative.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Warmest regards
Hello Jennifer! Daniel here
I was checking your last recordings (congrats on the way you are working on your set-up by the way!)
It seems there is an issue with gainstaging, to me it sounds like the mic pre-amp is turned too high, so it draws a bit extra room sound from that space and you can hear some hiss on top of your voice. The ideal scenario there would be to have a lower gain setting for the mic pre-amp, and just make sure the mic doesn't have any pads active or anything like that. This will most likely solve the gainstaging issue.
I'll be here to help you check any future recordings!
Daniel
Hello Daniel,
Hope you're doing well!
Tried to solve the issue on the recordings I previously shared with a sound designer, please download the amended versions for your reviewal from this link:
https://we.tl/t-m0WagfSD9O
Let me know if the issue has been solved, if not, I will record them again!
Looking forward to hearing back from you!
Warmest regards
Hello again Jennifer!
There is definitely an improvement with the processing that was applied, but you can only go so far with post. Usually the best approach is to solve the issues at the source (in this case, recording), because currently those issues I pointed before are still present. Although there is no room echo at all on the silences, when your voice comes in the room echo and hiss issues appear again. Those things are hard to fix with processing because both of them share frecuencies with your voice and it is really hard to eliminate them without impacting the quality of your voice in the recording. (A different case would be having issues with plosives, where usually a low-cut filter fixes it really easy!).
In this situation I would advise to try and get the recording setup right and you will not need to do much post after that!
Give it a try and we can keep reviewing the audios together!
Daniel
Hey David,
Hope you're having a cool day so far!
The above has been duly noted and will be recording the samples as soon as possible, considering the fact that the studio house i'm working with is taking some time off for the holidays.
Will definitely be keeping you and Maria in the loop once I have the new samples :)
Happy holidays to you and the Bunny Studio team!
Talk soon and warmest regards
HI Jennifer!
Awesome! We will be expecting your next samples. Hope you had great holidays!
Daniel
Hey Daniel,
Happy new years! I hope this new year will be a good one for you :)
Unfortunately however, for me, this year started off with me testing positive with the Covid-19 virus.
I have been quarantined at home for the past 4 days now.
Will have to wait at least 7-10 days before I do the PCR again.
So far, my symptoms have not been that bad, fingers crossed they don't get worse.
Will definitely keep you in the loop once I test negative again.
Warmest regards
Hi Jennifer,
We are very sorry to hear about this. We hope and wish for a fast and uneventful recovery.
We'll be waiting for you, take all the time you need to fully recover.
Get well soon!
