FEEDBACK, PLEASE!
Hello!
I would love to apply to be a VO artist on the site. Please review the samples below for audio quality.

facts: Home Studio (Rode NT1A mic, Behringer UMC202HD 2 channel Interface (gain was at about 6-7), Sony 7506 headphones, fully treated closet booth, using ADOBE AUDITION as my DAW.)
Editing Steps: Normalize, Noise Reduction, Adobe de-click, EQ, Compression, Normalize again.) Photos of my EQ and Compression settings attached as well.

Hi Daisy,
Thank you for reaching out.
Unfortunately, it seems like we don't have access to your files. Do you think you can change the sharing settings so we can access them?
Thank you
No problem!
My compression settings above were wrong, here are the accurate compression settings: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11bIkY98Zi7X7Ve6nf-GDSCqyn06vRsnF/view?usp=sharing
Here are my EQ settings (although I did not do EQ on this edited file): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uj1EMmYveS0bM939qlWNsV-F-0RgrZLT/view?usp=sharing
Here is a RAW file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aE1yMn2lxhzDaCuocK8jSrKZg8stuf7y/view?usp=sharing
Here is a fully edited file using Adobe Audition: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ars2zwyZiFkrI5t5fSCl_NpZC76pWttX/view?usp=sharing
My gain was at 7. (For the edited file, I did normalizing to 3dB, noise reduction, de-click and compression.)
Thank you!
Hi Daisy,
Thank you for making sure we could access those files.
It seems like you're applying mild compression and eq, which is good.
Although, it seems like you could raise the gain in your input, as the comparison between the raw and processed one is noticeable. What are the usual peaks when you're recording?
Also, it seems like you could benefit from applying a mild noise reduction to your file to mitigate the small hiss noise that is present.
Let me know what you think.
Hello!
Yes, listening back to both of the above files I sent, I did notice a drastic change in volume. I think it may be the stacks I use/the order of editing I do. FYI, here is exactly how I edit:
1) Filter
2) Normalize and take down excessive peaks
3) Normalize everything to 3dB
4) Apply Noise Reduction (My noise floor is usually around 60dB or less)
5) Apply de-click manually to mouth clicks
6) Light EQ to take out some of the rumble in the bottom.
7) Light Compression
8) Normalize everything again to 3dB
FINISH.
I tried 2 more samples, this time with my gain from 7 all the way up to 1 o'clock. Let me know if these are any better.

To answer your question, when I record (Gain at 1 o'clock), my levels peak at -18dB.
How do these clips sound?
Hi Daisy,
Thank you for that detailed explanation.
You can try and turn up the gain a bit further, which interface are you using? Normally you could aim to hit between -9 and -6 when recording, in most interfaces that is barely touching the orangy led light.
When you say filter, what are you exactly doing here?
The edited sample sounds a bit over-processed, maybe having a better input gain will help us have fewer steps when processing the audio.
A very simple and practical way could be:
