Rejection for non-professional equipment...
Good morning everyone,
I confess to being a little disconcerted for the reason of my rejection, namely:
-Sounds like the audio was not recorded with professional equipment. Be sure to use a professional microphone and equipment to properly record.
It so happens that I record in a cabin entirely covered with sound foam and a carpet a floor
For the equipment, I use a
-Micro Neumann TLM 103
-An ultra fast track M-audio sound card
-Anti-pop filter
Here is my recording: https://soundcloud.com/user-59149100/bunnystudio/s-2odnPBcRUxN
What do I have to do to improve the situation? I admit that I am a little lost..
Thank you for your efficient and professional return
Great day to all
-Micro Neumann TLM 103
-Une carte son M-audio fast track ultra
-Filtre anti-pop
Voici mon enregistrement: https://soundcloud.com/user-59149100/bunnystudio/s-2odnPBcRUxN
Que dois je faire pour améliorer la situation ? J'avoue que je suis en peu perdue..
Merci de votre retour efficace et professionnel
Belle journée à tous

Hello Delphine!
How are you?
Thank you very much for reaching out and being part of our community.
I was listening to your audio and I don't think the issue is on regards your gear as it sounds it was recorded with professional equipment. Nevertheless, there are some issues that you need to fix in order to have an excellent quality with your recording.
1. First of all, your audio has some room echo. I know you mentioned that you have sound foam and a carpet on the floor, but I think that this is not enough to treat acoustically your room. Have you checked already this article on regards acoustic treatment: https://bit.ly/2MrNsSV? Please read it and you can upload some pictures of your room here so we can discuss what steps might be adequate to treat your space.
2. There are also some plosives in your audio. As you have a good quality mic, it is important that you record also using an appropriate distance from your mouth to the capsule. To improve this, a little bit of experimentation with different distances will make it. Also, it is important to set up an appropriate distance the pop filter to get the best results from it.
3. Finally there are also some breath noises that can easily be edited using fades or volume automation in your DAW. All breath noises should be removed completely from your audios. If you want to prevent doing some edition to your audios, the best thing you can do is being totally aware at the moment of recording to control your breaths :).
4. Finally, the volume of your audio is too low. Please normalize the volume level to -3dBFS, as per our quality control requirements.
Please let me know your thoughts about it!.
Hoping you are having a great week.
Gabriel
Hello Gabriel,
Thank you very much, and I hope you’re okay too
Here are some pictures of my cabin so you can see my work environment.
I looked closely at the link to adjust the acoustics and I will think about adding more foam.
As for the distance to my microphone, I will correct my position so that there is less plausible, as well as my breathing;)
Where I have the most difficulty is to see for the volume of the audio, I will test by correctly adjusting the volume of the recording
Anyway, thank you very much for your very productive return and I will do everything I can to improve things.
I hope I can send you new links via this discussion so that you can help me if needed and if possible well-on
Happy end of the day and looking forward to talking with you again
Delphine
Hello Delphine!
Thanks a lot for the pictures. It seems that your space might benefit of getting acoustic foams or bass traps on the corners of your booth.
On regards the normalization of the audio, this is something you should do in your DAW. Which digital audio workstation are you currently using for recoding?
Please let me know how this goes and I'm looking forward to listen to your new samples.
Have an excellent weekend!
Gabriel
