    Hi Julie,

Thank you for reaching out, you have a great voice and that's a great read, however, it seems like your audio could benefit from improving your acoustics.

Here we have an article that might help you with that:

    Hi Johnatan!

Thank you for taking the time to listen, and for the kind words.

I've reviewed the document that you linked to, and you'll be happy to know I've employed these techniques already in the audio you heard, with the exception of the eyeball / sound reflection filter.

Please visit these links that review and discuss the effectiveness of the eyeball and other such devices. He's a successful, straightforward, honest guy, providing his opinion. I think you'll enjoy them!

What I really need help with is the following:

    1) Would Bunny Studio accept this recording as is?

    2) Which specific attributes of this recording make it fail?

    3) By what quantitative measurement(s) am I failing?

I've switched from Audacity to Reaper, so I now have the ability to incorporate your DAW suggestions into my filter chain.

Once we get this locked down, I can then proceed to the next step, which is creating multiple samples as per the Bunny guidelines, without fear of rejection for an unknown (un-measureable) reason.

    With great appreciation,

    Julie

Thank you very much for those videos, were really fun and super cool! He looks like a great guy and it's amazing how he tests and does all of those exercises for us.

    Let's head to your questions:

    1. Probably not :(

    2. It seems like it has been overprocessed, could be something along with noise reduction, compression, noise gate, etc.

    3. We have very specific quality standards that our team uses to evaluate deliverables, you'll find more about it here:

    https://help.bunnystudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000322144-VoiceBunny-Quality-requirements

That sounds great, how would you feel about sending us a RAW recording so we can understand where you're coming from and what do we have to work with?

    Hello, Johnatan!

I'm glad you liked Booth Junkie. He has many good videos and I've learned a lot from him. Thanks for looking at those.

Here's the RAW version of my recording, and I appreciate you listening to it.

Let's figure out what I can tweak to get myself to a Bunny level of production. Thank you sir!

This is definitely better, we can work with this.

There are two main things that we should focus on:

    • Acoustics
    • Hiss noise

For that, we have a couple of articles that might help:

Acoustics one, which you already know

And this one is fos hiss noise.

Now, we invite you to try some of the suggestions and ideas we have there and come back with another recording for us. Once we get passed those two things, you should be ready to go! :D

    Hi again, Johnatan.

Thanks for the links, I've reviewed them. Let's get started on making this recording acceptable for you at Bunny Studio.

    Here's the equipment list:

    • Shure SM7B microphone
    • Stedman ProScreen PS101 pop filter
    • Triton Fethead Phantom
    • Behringer MIC100 Ultragain Pro preamp
    • Roland R05 recorder (line-in)
    • Sony MDR-7506 headphones

    Acoustics:

    • Microphone and actor in a closet with ample clothes
    • Carpet on floor
    • Air conditioner off
    • No fluorescent lighting

Notes: Due to the awesomeness of the Fethead, the output of the Behringer preamp is set at near zero to avoid excessive hiss. None of the cables or cords are damaged.

You and I both knew the RAW recording was going to fail before I even submitted it. That's ok, since now that I'm using Reaper it was easy to create that RAW version, and we have a singular baseline from which to alter the recording.

    Here's Step 1 - Noise Removal

    http://humanint.com/audio/BunnyMovie-NoiseRemoval.wav

Assuming that you believe this will also fail, what would you like me to apply for Step 2?

    Thank you!

Thank you for that detailed post, we have great material to work with.

Let's focus on step one for a while, seems like the plugin is affecting some parts of your audio. Which plugin are you using and which settings do you have? Is there a chance you can send us a screenshot of that?

Maybe we can experiment lowering the threshold so it is effective yet not leaving undesired artifacts on the recording.

Groovy! Thanks for staying with me on this process!

Here's the plugin I'm using and a screenshot below:

Only the method in the first 3 minutes is used.

    Hi Julie,

This is a plugin I've never used before, thank you for that video as it explained a bit of it to me.

How about you lower the threshold, we believe what's happening is that it is a bit too high and it is affecting negatively your audio.

Do you think we can try that approach?

    Hello Johnatan,

Glad you found the tutorial helpful. It's straight from the developer of Reaper. He has a ton of them out there.

I lowered the Noise Removal threshold twice, once by 5dB and once by 10dB, so you can see which one you like better.

    Thank you sir!

    These are better sounding, Julie.

However, we are still picking up artifacts as a result of using the plugin.

How do you feel about moving into a small recording space so there's no need to add the additional plugin, maybe that could help us in getting the samples approved
