Distortion only after uploading

    Hey, RJ!

Thanks for joining us in the community, we appreciate it! I've downloaded your file and can't hear any distortion (well apart from the natural saturation that comes from those top-notch hollers and growls, kudos on that!)

Would you be able to provide me with the link to the project so that we can cross-check with that file to determine if the upload was corrupted in any way? That would help a bunch.

The only observation I'd make on this file is that it could use a noise gate (ReaGate will do great) with these settings. That would help you clean up the breaths, low amplitude noises, and little self-noise currently present in your recording. You can place it at the very top of your FX Chain in Reaper, as a standalone FX in an aux-send or in the master channel.

Let's try to figure this one out! I know we can do it =)

    Cheers,

    Hi Héctor!

Thanks for the very helpful reply and confirming I'm not going mad by not hearing distortion!

Here's the link to the project: https://bunnystudio.com/voice/projects/#/timeline/2048B2C09224CCCCCF0F?version=default

It's project: Monster 7 VOICE OVER BOOKING PROJECT ID: 2048B2C09224CCCCCF0F

I have added the Reagate following your suggest settings:

Would it be possible for me to had an extension on the revision time? I think I'm operating in a different timezone to you guys, so by the time you reply the project might have expired.

For clarification; BunnyStudio asks for no processing on uploaded files, so I don't add any kind of FX at all and upload as raw as can be. In the future would you like me to do this? I can apply my usual FX chain and run through RX7, the whole shebang going forward, if that's preferable?

    Thank you,

    RJ

Just in case it's useful info, I tried to upload the revised audio (not the newest one, Monster 3, I've just linked) and it was still giving me the distortion, but not on my home studio DAW or VLC through my interface/headhones.

    Hey, RJ!

First of all, I'm glad to see that the audio was approved and the project was successfully fulfilled, Kudos!

We'll keep digging into the issue, checking the audios on our end to ensure that no funny business is harming any submission to our platform, so thanks a bunch for the help, we really appreciate it!

As for the FX Chain, I'd like to hear a raw sample of your voice (spoken word, no growling hehehe) so that I can help you tailor one to your specific needs, which will be pre-vetted of course. Please upload a sample in 48K/24b so that I can work on that and I'll get back to you with a 'Bunny Safe' chain that won't trigger any rejections on grounds of over-processing.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Héctor.

Here's a sample. It's been brought up to level, but no other processing has been applied: https://we.tl/t-QhjnWnI8C2

I also have RX7, so feel free to include suggestions for this alongside Reaper suggestions, if you think it would make a better end product for the client.

Many thanks for your help on this and all the best,

    RJ

    Thanks, RJ!

Gotta tell you right off the bat, your audio doesn't really need much processing at all! Your acoustic environment is 95 out of 100 and your signal renders a mostly flat frequency spectrum. Just lovely and easy to work on!

Here's that same audio processed in Reaper, with the following FX Chain. I've tailored it to the file you sent (which was normalized at 0.00 dB) so that the compressor included takes care of the peaks and renders audio at our standard -3 dBFS. You may notice that I've only included the noise gate, very discrete EQ, and the slightest touch of compression, which will suit all sorts of readings, without going overboard or ruining your wonderful delivery/dynamic range. It's not earth-shattering or anything like that, because that kind of natural, full-range sound profile is what Bunny Studio and most other platforms prefer, especially since almost all of the submissions get massaged in post down the line, so we must leave leeway for the engineers and producers who will surely work with our audio.

As for RX7, man I just don't see the need for that! It would just quash your transients and that lovely dynamics in your voice with no added benefit. Your signal is so clean that a basic noise gate is more than enough. You also don't introduce a bunch of breaths or mouth clicks (kudos!) so in my professional opinion, it'd just be overkill. In the EQ included in the chain, I just brought down the 2400 Hz range a tiny bit, to flatten out the super tiny resonances that live in such frequency range, which account for most of the echo issues in most self-produced pros like us.

Keep up the stellar work, I'm looking forward to hearing from you often!

    Cheers!

    Hi Héctor,

This is unbelievably helpful, and probably the best support I've had about anything, ever! Thank you so much!

The new version of the audio sounds great, and I really appreciate the fact you've made the FX chain file for me to just drop in an use. It works perfectly. I'll change my chain to this for new StudioBunny work going forward.

Also thank you very much about the kind words regarding my performance.

Is there a way to privately message you?

    Very much appreciated!

    Hey, RJ!

Thank you very much for such kind words, much appreciated mate! I'm glad you liked the end result and that we were able to come up with a good FX Chain for your Bunny work.

Unfortunately, as per Bunny Guidelines, all interactions are limited to this forum, but you can go ahead and ask away, we're always glad to be of service =)

    Cheers!

That's OK, no worries. I was just going to tell you that I had really been struggling with my depression during the period of our talking and your kind words and in depth help was really a ray of sunshine during that period, so wanted to thank you personally. I wish everyone in the VO industry could be like you.
