Waiting on Approval for Second Audition
Hello! I placed a request for a reconsideration a little over 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything yet. María recommended that I share my specs with a sample on this community. After my first audition was rejected, I invested in better equipment, and I improved the recording conditions of my environment. I am currently using a Shure SM7b with a Scarlett 2i2. As a sample, I have recorded the script that I was given for the first audition. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi Craig,
Thank you for reaching out, do you think you can help us making the file available for anyone with the link?
Currently, it is private and we can't evaluate it.
Thank you!
Hi Jonathan,
Sorry about that. Google Drive's permission settings are a bit misleading. It was set to "Anyone with the link can view" but apparently that means you as a 'viewer' can't download it. I have updated it so that it now says that "Viewer can download". Please let me know if that fixes the issue.
Thank you!

Hi Craig,
Thank you for that, we evaluated your file, and although it is sounding very good, there is a minor issue to address.
Do you think you can work on Mouth Noises? It seems that could be a key factor for our team to ask for revision here.
Let us know what you think
Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for the feedback! I listened to my sample, and I am thinking you are talking about plosives here. Are those the Mouth Noises you are talking about? I have the cover on the SM7b, which I've read is supposed to work as a pop filter. Do you think it would benefit me to have an additional pop filter? Are there other tips you might know of to help me reduce the mouth noises?
Thank you very much for your help!
-Craig
That could be true as well.
Let me share an article with you, this has been helpful for our other Pros:
Mouth Noises Article
Let me know if this helps
Hi Jonathan,
Apologies for taking a while to make an update. Thank you for sending that article. It was very helpful. I have changed my setup a little more to further help reduce the mouth noises, and I think it is sounding much better.
Here is a new link, which I have doublechecked the permissions on this time: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f7k4UGqXeY5bDRQcJcvLFa9kPOM7ae2O/view?usp=sharing
Would you mind reviewing this one? Thank you very much again for your help.

Hello Craig! Daniel here
I just went through the first and second files, and honestly the first one sounds better to me, the thing is that the second one sounds a bit further away from the mic, and there is a bit more "room" being captured by the mic. Definitely there are no plosive issues, but the mouth noises described are more regarding "click-tongue" sounds. In this case maybe a slight shift from the mic angle could help wonders!
You can upload a new sample if you want to review it and keep working on your sound!
Daniel
Hello,
I have finally updated my recording setup and would like to try again with another sample if you wouldn't mind reviewing it again. Since my last feedback, I have purchased a CloudLifter as well as a Pop Filter to help control my sound quality and mouth noises better. I also changed the placement of the mic from my mouth until it sounded right to me, and I made sure to be well hydrated before this recording.

Would you mind reviewing this updated recording? Thank you very much again for your help.

Hello again Craig!
That last one sounds pretty good! The last thing you need to do before submitting your application again is to edit the breath noises (that is a common Quality Control request as well). No need to re-record, just edit them out making sure that you are not suddenly cutting any phrase and it should be ready to go!
Kind regards,
Daniel
