Rejected due to non-professional equipment
Hello! The BunnyStudio team has returned to me with a rejection and single point which left me confused; "It sounds as if the audio was not recorded with professional equipment. Please ensure you are using a professional microphone and equipment to record properly."
My equipment are:
- RODE NT1-A Mic
- Behringer U-Phoria UMC22
- Alctron PF8 Pro
I've used these equipment for real world gigs, so I am surprised to find I've been using non-professional equipment all these times.
Btw, here's my audition recording in case you're wondering, as requested with no post-editing: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SBQ-NVOc72byLr4rU-agA97Z0EiUsi2K/view?usp=sharing

Hello Morris,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
I have just listened to the above audition and firstly you did a marvelous rendition of the script!
However, I did find a number of quality issues throughout;
- There is white noise throughout the recording. To help manage this hissing white noise you can read a bit about hiss/white noise in this excellent webinar by our amazing Angela Serrano: https://bit.ly/2ZixGeI
- There is room echo. Here are some tips on acoustic treatment on our community page: https://bit.ly/2MrNsSV.
- There are plosives in your reading. Careful on pronouncing the 'P's! Perhaps you are recording too close to your microphone? You can also try adding a 12db/oct low-cut EQ at 120hz to fix this.
- You can hear mouth noises and breathing which can be a little distracting to the ear. Again the mouth noises could be because you are recording too close to your microphone. As for breathing noises make sure to softening your breaths during editing, or removing the breaths altogether. You'll find tips on how to control mouth noise issues here: https://bit.ly/2NjTyUK
Finally, I understand your frustration for someone questioning your equipment! But given the quality issues as identified above, I hope you can understand that it could be perceived as having an unprofessional mic.
Nevertheless, if you want to upload new samples on here, I'd be delighted to review or offer more feedback!
Kind regards,
- Samantha [Bunny Studio QC Agent]
Hello Samantha,
Thank you for your reply. First off, I apologize if I come across as frustration and possibly even hostile with my initial post; that was not my original intention but such emotions may have leaked into said writing.
With that said, prior to this post I had also shared this concern in the "Get Feedback" section so as to keep this simple and consistent, I will be responding to yours and the other reviewer from my other post, in said first post (https://help.bunnystudio.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360010150499-Feedback-about-my-application-sample-Seek-enlightenment-).
Thus, kindly refer to or even respond to that post. I look forward to your further feedback.
Regards,
Morris Seng.

Thank you for getting back to me, and for letting me know you also posted in another forum - I did not realise this.
As I can see my colleague Daniel is helping you with your recordings and set-up. I'm sure his wealth of knowledge and expertise will help you immensely! I'll let Daniel take it from here on.
All the best,
