Rejection for room echo and compression
Hi These were the comments I received for my demo:
1) Room Echo - The acoustic conditions in your recording are not ideal. The 'sound' of your room is audible in your deliverable. Please check your mic positioning and/or room treatment.
2) Sound Signature - Your deliverable appears to have been processed with compression. This might be at fault for enhancing the previous issue.
Firstly I have a lovely acoustically treated space, and have been recording for many many years - there's no room echo. Secondly I don't use compression in my recordings - as a pro I naturally work my own dynamics.
There is a link to the demo I submitted here:

Help appreciated. Very confusing.

Hi Hiroshi - firstly thank you for replying. I have a fully treated professional recording studio (photos attached) and have never had any of the issues with room sound that were mentioned. I've been recording more than 30 years and am very surprised to hear this kind of feedback.I didn't record with compression so why that was mentioned in the first instance I found confusing. The room is not a small room, and I don't record close to any reflective surfaces.
Nevertheless, here is a link to another version for your review. Thank you for your time:

Hi Hiroshi - thanks you for the comments - there is not a parallel surface in the room, and I fully understand acoustics as I used to teach it, and I have gobos for when I need a sound to be any closer - I'm also only a few short inches directly in front of the mic. Anyway, despite me not hearing room reflections that you hear, here is one more recording for you to listen to. Looking forward to your comments...

Ok great. Thank you. Is there anything else I need to do now to get auditions for jobs?

Hi Hiroshi - now I'm even more confused - I received a rejection form the company giving this message:
"The test project we sent you was not completed on time"
I send all tests and revisions almost within the hour I received them, and you have said that my demo has now passed. So I'm wondering why I have received this message. As there seems to be no direct avenue to ask about this I'm asking here.
You had said "Feel free to send a sample of your revised recording here anytime" so I did - very quickly.
I'm now confused as to why if my tests passed, and I was within the hour for nearly every revision even though I was given more than a day to respond, why my application is rejected?
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Mike
Hi Mike,
As per Hiroshi's request, we've created a request for a new test project for you.
It should arrive within the next 30 days.
Let us know if you need anything else in the meantime.
Happy Holidays!
