Hello Joshua, and welcome to our community!

I just gave your file a listen, and the main issue I can hear, and that probably was cataloged as background noise, is a fan spinning in the background, maybe your computer's fan? It is not really loud, but it is present, and that issue will definitely cause rejections by QC.

Regarding boxiness, I personally wouldn't call it that; I think that if you can fix the issue with the fan noise, you certainly could give it another try and see how it goes!

    Regards,

    Daniel

    Hi Joshua,

Just another voice actor like you. Yes, I do hear that fan in the background. If you can turn it off when recording, great. If it's the computer fan, you might need to get it farther from the mic, or visa versa, or place sound absorbent materials between that fan and mic, or a combination of the above. One thing I sometimes do...

(Bunny Quality Control DO NOT READ!)

...is use a noise gate in post to take down any background by 6 to 8 db. That's about the limit because if you gate like -15 db or more, your recording can sound robotic. (Some breath is normal. None can sound really weird.)

Great voice by the way. I think you'd get work when you iron out the minor noise issue.

    Best,

    Joe B.

    Joshua,

Clarification: I mentioned breath while talking of noise gate, but breath is NOT what I use the noise gate for. The gate is just for any small amount of background stuff.

For breaths, I edit nearly every one - NOT to remove it, but to control it, either in level or length. But maybe I'm just a loud breather. :)

    Best,

Thank you Daniel and Joe, I'm working on adjusting my set-up, but unfortunately that requires a LOT of rearranging. I listened with my volume up a bit higher and was able to hear the fan as well and it has to have been my PC fan. Thank you both for the advice and the listen! I'll post again once I re-record
